Why do they call it Dragonball "Z"? Is it from Dragonball the orignal that they came up with that? Am I just crazy and somehow FORGOT that they explained it? Is there like a Movie Special that I SOMEHOW MISSED!?

I'll explain it..
See..with the original manga, it was just Dragonball.
They made the Dragonball tv series, which is the first part of the manga.
When they decided to finish up the story, they called the new series Dragonball Z, simply to avoid confusion.

They tacked the Z on the end to avoid confusion..
Otherwise there would have been 2 Dragonball series..
The Z doesn't stand for ANYTHING..it's just there.

Considering both shows put together is the original dragonball manga..there really isn't anything they coulda tacked onto the end of Dragonball that would have meant anything...
So, they stuck Z on it.

Actually, the GT stands for Gran Turismo(sp) for the playstation. I read it somewhere that Toriyami did that to promote the game

And GT or Gran Turismo means grand tour. Implying that GT was grand is like saying Pee Wee Herman is epic. Though it's the truth. DB: GT is grand tour . . . .

GT means grand touring.Because goku, trunks and pan fly all over the galaxy to find the black star dragonballs

no its not:S am i only one who read chimps post, its there cos dragon ball, and dbz was just ONE manga called dragon ball, the tv verson needed to be put in 2 parts, and since they r called "Z FIGHTERS" then "Dragon ball Z" would be a good one.
