The Nintendo Mystery Machine Revaled

Ur kidding Nintendo hasn't been in the business long enough! Its the only surviving company from the golden era of video gaming that hasn't gone under. Nintendo have been making gaming consoles since the early 1970s and have been going for over 30 years now. If anyone knew more about the gaming business, it'd be Nintendo.

The biggest leaps in gaming as of late have been motion detection, photo realistic graphics and alternate control methods. I'd love to see the three combined into a fighting game where you actually have to fight using your whole body. That'd rock.

My friends, my friends! Everyone has got the wrong idea about myself and the big N-word HQ. I don't think the games are all kiddie--I think the games are all marketed accordingly to avoiding direct competition with the other systems so that Nintendo of America can stay afloat financially.

The other systems just seem to have much more capability, in my estimation. The gamecube will forever shovel mario and link down your throat in the same five types of games (the racer, the 4-player mindless melee, the fighting game, the puzzle game, and your standard 3d platformer). You pay nintendo hundreds of dollars (well, no, your moms and dads do, no doubt) to play rehashed versions of old games. They are not financially secure; selling more units than another company doesn't mean that Nintendo is actually generating more revenue. Hell, an Xbox is what, 300 bucks still? An Xbox and one game (a standard xmas gift setup) generates as much money as every two gamecubes sold. Not to mention Microsoft has other departments that can allocate money to Xbox development; Nintendo doesn't secretly manufacture cars or processors or refrigerators to fall back on. The one advantage Nintendo has to recoup the Gamecube stuff is this new portable--because Sony is about to put out a portable themselves, Nintendo has to one up them to keep the market. They hid under the radar in the console war and now Sony is forcing a confrontation.

And they used up all of their old school Mario/Zelda rehash on the GBA, already ("Super Mario Bros. Advance/ Super Mario Bros. 3" WTF is that?!). So they're going to need to produce some quality titles to get this new handheld ahead, because Sony has them beat on licensing rights anyhow.

PS2 isn't easy to dev for, but it IS fairly intuitive, and it's capabilities are pretty clear. Clever designers can make the PS2 do some impressive stuff, let me tell you. And with newer technological leaps, the PSP should easily be able to match GBA and this new thing's sales, if not devour them whole.

The mistakes Nintendo has made financially will bring them to their knees; this portable is the last chance to escape that problem. Doing things like having unique, expensive-to-produce formats for your system, having lousy integrational capabilities, and all that other good stuff they did, have run their money ragged because the Cube didnt' sell a bajillion units more than everything else (which would have helped break even).

Regarding my taste in games, I really don't like Rockstar games...GTA was a turd, it had no point, it was just a giant playground. Manhunt just sucks. The idea was stupid in the first place. State of Emergency made we want to cut off my own legs with disgust. I don't like games just because they are rated M; I like games that are good, and games that are fun, but I do NOT enjoy games that are designed solely with the purpose of making soccer moms notice the colorful presentation and decide it'd make a nice gift for little Timmy. I don't like paying for the same game three times and that's what you young'uns do when you buy an old-ass Nintendo game that's been "reinstated" on GBA or some such ****. So from now on, everyone post your age when you discuss a console, and we can take a survey. I'm 21 personally but I never liked the cube. If you guys want to keep buying Rogue Squadron clones, fine, pay 50 bucks every six months for the same game with the same ten missions. Pay 50 bucks for bad Zelda games that aren't at all like any of the fans' requests (that's my main gripe with them, by the way--they haven't given us what we've wanted in a long, long time, and that upsets me greatly, having been a customer for 10+ years). It's all preference really; I went to college for marketing and media, so I know why things are the way they are with Nintendo's marketing. It's designed to fool you into giving up your money with them putting in minimal effort; and any company not putting any effort into the games, shouldn't get the money, and that's that.

Either way, this is all pointless-the PSP will destroy whatever this idiotic contraption is without even trying. Mark my words.

I agree with XIX. Nintendo obviously markets in a way so no one else will oppose them, the problem with this mindset, marketting to the very young, is that the truly 'best-selling' video games are to older people--GTA3, Halo, etc.

Gamecube won't ever be #1 because it specifically markets itself to children, who don't have the 'majority of money' that gamers have--their parents do. If babyish remakes of your favorite games from your childhood are your cup of tea, along with 50 starwars pieces of garbage, then by all means support Nintendo.

Shigeru Miyamoto has ruined two classic gaming series now. Feel free to disagree with me, my AIM name is under this little list.

Also, Babyboy said "Wow this is so messed up,what is nintendo doing, what happen to the rumor about nintendo gamesphere,or nintendo doplhin."

I believe the Dolphin was the code-name for the Gamecube or N64 project, it didn't just disappear. Anyway, I also agree with XIX--I don't feel like paying for remade games on GBA, or on the "DS," especially when they massacre absolutely beloved games like FF Tactics. Does anybody have anything -good- to say about that game?

Out of the 3 systems, PS2 is obviously the best one to buy, because they have the highest number of high-quality and fun games, unless you specifically want multiplayer with 4 people, then it's a tossup between X-Box and Gamecube, one if you like "kiddy" games, for the most part, and the other for more adult-oriented games.

Also, don't be fooled when people say Gamecube is the only one remaking games--They released GTA/GTA:Vice City for X-Box, as well "The Sims" for both X-Box and PS2, it's not just Nintendo doing that sort of crap.

PC-gaming will always give you the greatest choice of games. ^_^ Also, comes with eternal backwards compatability (if you tinker, you can still play extremely old DOS games.)

As for this Nintendo DS.. Is anybody -really- looking forward to having to dole out your attention to one of two screens, so you're always missing something?

WEE! Dual-screen Starwars clones!

Sailor, hush ya damn mouth:\ Lets face it: you said that its more adult gamers that have the ability to buy games and hardware, thats true. BUT there was a huge mistake you last few Nintendo opposing suckers just made :D. GTA 3? Halo? GTA 3 was an 18, meaning most kids couldn't play one of the top games series on PS2. Halo, wasnt even rated over here in the UK, because there was nothing to make have a rating. It was the same standard as Metroid Prime. o_O Whats that? Metroid Prime? Targeted at kids? I dont think so...... So no. Nintendo didnt aim its target at kids, it just aimed it at the fans. And there are millions of Nintendo fans out there, that have just probably grown out of games. But i never will, and even if Nintendo do stop production of consoles, you guys KNOW (aimed at Abhorsen) that Zelda, Mario, Samus, and the rest of the crew will never go to PS2 or Xbox. And lets face it. The main reason everyone will buy an Xbox in the next few months is because of 2 games that were originally Nintendo Official, and 1 game that was Nintendo Official. Conkers Bad Fur Day 2, Kameo: Elements of Power, and of course, Perfect Dark Zero. Other reasons for buying Microsoft's big black box will be because of Halo 2. But is it Xbox exclusive? No. Remember that most Xbox games are also ported to the PC, por ejemplo: Halo, y KotOR. I reckon that Microsoft will go down like the Neo Geo did. Then it will be Nintendo, Sony, and that Phantom console in the league. And how far can SONY go, when the hardware of every console always beats its performance? Not very.....especially when you consider the possibilities that SONY is capable of. Same goes for Xbox. Its console was for high-end games. Not only that, but it wanted to beat everyone graphical-wise. But just as someone pointed out earlier, and i have been trying to tell my dumbass friends, whats a game with graphics and no gameplay? Answer: A piece of ****e that lasts 24 hours

P.S. Who adopted Nintendo's style TWICE?? O_O yep. SONY themselves when they copied Zelda, and made that piece o crap known as Dark Cloud. Then they copied Zelda: TWW with Dark Cloud 2.

FFT for GBA was in no way butchered by Nintendo, it was butchured by the creators, Square (even though I enjoyed that game myself). Nintendo lost a lot of good game developers (Rare, creators of Golden Eye, Perfect Dark) and Square after the SNES. Square only left because they saw promise in the CD based console rather than the cartridge. Nintendo has made bad decisions, the 64 should have never used cartridges, the Disc Drive (that used Zip-like discs, still cartridges) addon that I remember was hyped in magazines, failed miserably in Japan and never made it into the U.S.
If Nintendo would do the smart thing and make something similair to Mario 3, better graphics but still same gameplay, then the Mario series wouldn't have also been so 'butchered' (even though I still enjoyed 64 and Sunshine). And what exactly is wrong with remaking old games? Mario 3 was classic. People don't ***** about making classic games when it comes to things like Final Fantasy, but when its a Mario game, 'oh no, more kiddie bull****,'. FFX-2 was nothing but a pair of polygonal breasts and polygonal ass wrapped inside a container, it was obviously aimed towards men, they wear practicly nothing. I was having DOA flashbacks.
Why would you want GTA to be released on another console? It's already on PC, sold the most on PS2 and it would have been a waste of time and money for them to make it on the Cube. As for the Sims, I'm quite pleased that the Sims hasn't **** all over the Cube like it has everything else (I can't ****ing STAND the Sims).
Oh yeah, 50 Star Wars pieces of garbage? What console were you talking about? Cube has two Rogue Squadron games, both of which recieved excellant ratings everywhere, and gee, I just can't think of anymore... oh yeah KOTOR, but that was GOTY on Xbox. Galaxies... nope, ****ty PC MMORPG... JKIII, oh that one was on the Cube, but released to good reviews. So when you say 50 garbage Star Wars titles, you'll have to be a little more specific. Cause I can't seem to remember more than 3 (2 if you mean cube exclusives).

SuperShenlon="Prime? Targeted at kids? I dont think so...... So no. Nintendo didnt aim its target at kids, it just aimed it at the fans."

Well, guess what? Look at the majority of games out for the Gamecube, and look at their American ESRB Rating, and you will find the vast majority being marketted towards people under the age of thirteen.

As for the Developers you mentioned, such as RareWare--they left Nintendo for a -reason-, because they were doing something -wrong.- Also, if you knew anything about anything, you'd know that Microsoft will never "go down like NeoGeo," because Microsoft is a company with near-unlimited funding, far more then Nintendo has, and thus, it doesn't really matter to them whether the games sell, or not.

Sorry, but you can't use three or four games like Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, and Metroid Prime, to justify an entire system of games. Yes, there ARE non-childish games, but they're in the SINGLE digits, -maybe- one over, if you really, REALLY stretch it.

You also said,
"whats a game with graphics and no gameplay? Answer: A piece of ****e that lasts 24 hours." Exactly, which is what most gamecube games are.

By the way, Dark Cloud didn't "copy" Zelda, and Dark Cloud 2 didn't copy Zelda: The Wind Waker. They were released at almost exactly the same time.

As for you, Tassadar, here's a few.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Star Wars: Rebel Strike
Star Wars: Rogue Leader
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
