I'm also almost a level 3 imperial thief and I haven't even started the main quest yet. I've even been to Chorrol and found Jauffre but I haven't spoken to him yet. I want to become really badass before I do. Here's my guy so far:

how did you get into his room to get the tax information on the lex guy?..i tried over and over again..but theres always guards sleeping in the tower where hes at..and at the very top room..hes in there sleeping..and when u enter..he wakes up and tries to arrest you...am i missing something?...

also..does anyone know the ingredients to make an actual healing potion..like...a weak/strong potion of healing..

Use sneak, disable run and take of your shoes/boots, they affect the amount of sound you make and will most likely wake the guards and Lex himself. Oh, and the lock of the desk is average, you might want to practice your lockpicking skills before you take a shot at that.

Yeah well, it is really easy when you practice your sneaking a bit untill you level it a couple of times. I leveled up a lot and you can barely hear me when sneaking.

Lockpicking is a joke, I can make a new character that doesn't have it as a main skill and pick a 5 tumbler lock without breaking a pick. Funny thing is, when I first started playing, lockpicking was tough and I was like, I will never get the hang of this. lol

Lockpicking isn't that hard most of the times. I just tick the tumbler up once, it comes down, and quickly tick it up again and then press so it locks. Ussualy works, if I only tick it up once I break my pick, but if I do it more than twice, I also break it.

There was this console command in Morrowind, I'm sure there's one for Oblivion as well. Try the Oblivion forums, I believe you're allowed to ask there.

or you can get the unbreakable lock pick which automaticly sets your lock licking skill to expert

But locks aren't that hard to begin with. Its just a matter of patiently waiting for the tumbler to slowly rise. I have been amassing a large collection of picks since I stopped trying to quickly click right after hitting the tumbler or clicking every other time. Very hard is quite easy now.

why go to all that trouble when you can just press x rapidly with an unbreakable pick XD

Press ~ and type showracemenu in order to change appearances. If you want to change your class, its showclassmenu. I made an awesome character, but I ++++ed up his class and I stopped playing soon afterwards. Then I found out I can change his class and now I'm playing it everyday.

Meh. Level 13 Night Elf Crusader. Sword bashing + Heal Major Wounds ftw [SPOILERS] Gave Martin the Amulet of Kings, and now fighting through Imperial City. Pretty short game if this is it. 14 hours clocked time.
