What is steam and bots?
Are those have to be downloaded to run esf?
Can I play esf as a single player?
Because I don't see any button for single player in esf 123.

Download steam for free. Make an account on steam. Buy half-life 1 from steam. Install ESF above that Half-life 1 that you bought from steam.
You can play esf single-player if you fight against bots.

Steam is like a hub for you to play your games, and for you to buy games. You can use the social functions for chat, gaming servers, groups etc

Steam is the only legitimate way to play on a Half Life server.
This is why you MUST have a legal copy of Half Life activated on Steam to be able to play ESF

Ok I understood what you said but Steam costs to buy it for half life 1 would I get it free if I register there?

Half Life is a game like any other product on the market. You must pay for it like you must pay for your bread and milk, or your clothes and your computer.

You can buy it through Steam, or if you bought it in a shop you must activate it on Steam.

ESF 1.2 has functioning bots, so you can play ESF on your own, or multiplayer.

What the others said, please buy Half-Life to get a valid legal copy. If you refuse to buy Half-Life legally with combination of steam. Then I'm afraid we cannot help you further with this matter as we don't help people who don't play the legal way.

Seriously limbachiyavishal, if you already have a copy of HalfLife to play ESF with, just download STEAM and activate HalfLife on it with your serial number.

STEAM is free. Games are not free. If you already bought HalfLife then you dont have a problem.

You can use bots in ESF 1.2.3 by accessing the bot menu, which you would know how to do by looking at your keyboard configuration.
