But I mean a more realistic thing, I don't know exactly how EVE goes, but it looks more like point and click, I'm talking about being inside of a cockpit dogfighting using my Joystick.

The game I've been waiting for is Angels Fall First: Planetstorm.

You can actually move around in first person with weapons and everything inside big space cruisers, pilot it, man turrets, get in fighters docked inside the cruiser... it's amazing, I can't post a link right now, but I will later.

I agree on the Joystick thing. The last game I actually used mine for was... Ace Combat I think.

I'm assuming you haven't played it all the way through. I'm not gonna pretend that there aren't a lot of similarities, but it's in no way a WoW clone. For one, SW does alot of things right that Blizzard didn't seem to realize until The Old Republic debuted. Even checking out the beta, they are adding in a bunch of small details into mists of pandaria that came directly from TOR.

second, and the reason I like Star Wars above WoW atm, is the boss battles and physics. The majority of the end game bosses have really fun and fascinating mechanics to beating them, something world of warcraft seems to not bother to do anymore. With the exception of a couple unique bosses, mostly the deathwings and that worm thing in blackwing. And that being said, in SW, the physics engine is a valid way to deal with most enemies. Particularly hard mob that's prone to knock back? Throw him off a damn cliff.

The other reason I like star wars is the general uniqueness of some of the classes. True, the knight is a warrior/paladin/dk clone, and the consular is a priest, but show me what class a trooper or imperial agent corresponds to in WoW.

Yet another reason I like Star wars is the ongoing story. Something World of Warcraft doesn't bother with past level 10. You actually feel like your character, and you actually develop preferences for which companion you use.

All I'm trying to say, granted this is a game I'll probably defend to the death solely because it's KoTor, is that you can't base your judgement off of what is similar to World of Warcraft. They did a lot different and a lot of what they did similarly is done even better. If you don't like star wars, that's cool, but saying it's a WoW clone is pretty baseless. Especially if you haven't gotten any higher than level 20, which is where the classes start to build some unique properties.

/endrant

P.s. Sorry, forgot to add this. Yet another major different in SW that i find preferable is the lack of auto-attacking. If your not hitting your slash button, or shoot, or something along those lines your not dealing damage. And while this is minor, it also means that you don't get any free procs. Also, force choke.

/realendrant

I literally played to like... Level 25 and couldn't take anymore. Everything I do in this game made it feel so much like a WoW clone. Force Choke felt like Death Grip for DKs to me. All of the things you said WoW didn't have past level 10, you didn't play Vanilla or Burning Crusade then. Vanilla/BC were the best times of WoW. Check out the fights for BC and such. Even now they keep changing up the Boss Fights.

I have a friend I know IRL who played this game to Max Level and he said End Game as pretty boring currently. It felt the same as WoW when it came to the quests and such.

I will agree that the Combat is slightly different but even still, playing a Tech was just... I felt like I was playing exactly like a Hunter. The biggest thing I did like about it however was the smoothness of Combat. I will give it that, the combat is a lot more smooth compared to WoW.

Yeah but you also had the misfortune of playing one of the classes that is most similar to the WoW ones. The classes that have the least similarities to WoW and that actually has some new things is the Bounty-hunter and probably the trooper too. There is also the smuggler that has cover mechanics, so that counts a bit as different.

Another truth. The endgame is quite a let-down according to most people who played either WoW or any other traditional MMORPG's. Bioware did "promise" they would bring out more content, but honestly I have a lot of reasons to worry about what they could actually bring.

Sith Assassin forevah!

I just love the fact that almost every conversation ends up with me shocking/force lightning the person.

I know there are technical limitations, but I really wish the combat system was more like Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy... But well... it's an MMO afterall...

Ive played this game for 3 months, Sith Juggernaut level 50. Experienced some end-game PvE, got among the best PvPers on my realm.

Things I like about ToR :

- Leveling Experience. It is by far the best leveling experience Ive had in any MMO (coming from a 5 yrs WoW vet and from playing many other MMOs).
- Huttball . Huttball is quite a unique concept of a battleground. Its one of the things that makes this unique.
- Dungeons are quite unique, you can influence the outcome of each one.

Things I hate about ToR :
- Its engine. It requires a vast amount of resources to run well in BGs . Otherwise it runs....well enough in leveling, etc.
- Endgame PvE . I haven't found end-game PvE too exciting really...
- Ilum is screwed up.
- Little to no Open World PvP.
- Would of wished it to be sandbox.
- They should of made jedi/sith a achievment not a starting class.

I entirely agree with most of your post, if they made a jedi outcast/academy type mmo, I would just throw every credit card I had at the producer. The only problem I have with the jedi/sith achievement is how it worked out in Galaxies. If I remember correct, it was a huge quest that took forever to get done with, but at the end of it -anyone- could be a jedi. Which I don't think is really fair in a game. Most people just want to be a jedi, not maybe become a jedi after they flip the entire planet upside-down.

I woulda preferred a starting area where we find out we were a jedi/sith and go through some sort of training regiment, then get set out into the world at level 10 to become stronger and learn about the jedi ways. But, meh, I'm cool enough with Biowares methods. Kotor2 started off as being a jedi and it didn't impact the game any for me.

That was the whole point of it. ANYONE could of become a Force Sensitive, however it took alot of dedication. Still, the rewards we re there, Jedi s being quite powerful.

I feel this is the way to go. Jedi's should be rare. Not every Jedi should be powerful (Padawans for example shoundt be) but those who truly dedicate time to get really high as a Jedi should be really powerful.

Yeah, but that's my point. Not everyone can put that amount of time into something. I've heard of people that were literally on this quests for months. Though, I hear they made it alot easier a bit before they finally shut down the game servers.

"Not everyone can put that amount of time into something" - Exactly. If someone did put that much time into something then they got rewarded by having a OP Class. If not then simply play a regular class. Seems fair enough and beats having 16 Sith/Jedi out of 20 in a Warzone.

It's these new gen gamers.

FFXI had some fairly hard items to obtain or jobs to get and you needed to put forth some serious effort for them.

Supposed to be a reward; hence why the Class is so cool, not every freaking one has it.

How about the 40 man Kel Thuzad raid in Classic?

How about the top PvE guilds that went into PTR with every new release to check the new content and learn tactics and once live they would spend hours upon hours with little to no break in order to down the boss and do WORLD'S first. ... ? THAT is NOT hardcore?

Fair enough. Then what about the Iron Man Challenge? Level a char to 80 with no potions, no talent points spent, only grey/white items, if you die you die for good, no dungeons, no outside help. How is that for hardcore? :p

Making yourself do something like that does make the game hardcore if you purposely mold the game mechanics to make it harder.

I don't remember potions. :p

Oh well.

...so yeah, to sum up.

I think it's a fairly standard mmo, but I enjoy it all the same. Worth the 15 bucks a month, in my opinion.
