Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic problem

Ok so i found the starmap of kashyyk and im headiing to the czerka dock. when I go through the gate ot the dock the screen is black and all I can see is the cursor. I press tab( the button that switches char's) and I can still hear the parties voices. also I can hear wookie growl's and blaster fire in the backround can someone help?

The thing is i have been able to beat the game ten times over before.

will i lose my files or would i keep them?

when you uninstall, you have the option of keeping your save files.

OK it worked i kept the save files.thanks

Edit:
I still have the same problem so does that mean the file is corrupt? will i hhave to start form a different save?
