Cable internet now accounts for around 45% of all internet users, so says The Screen Savers.
My ISP is offering a platinum 3meg service. Right now we are paying 29 a month for bronze but were really getting the Gold service.
So I guess you're not alone in being treated nicely by the cable company.

Rogers probably upgraded some of their hardware, and cabling.
Also, download speeds are affected by the number of users downloading from the server at a given time.
Either that or you were set up on their "Ultra Hi Speed" service that
they now offer.

If you want to know what is going on with the web, go here:

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/main.htm

But it does not give info on the 11 global servers for security reasons.

I am on Rogers also, and I have noticed that D/L speeds on
holidays are faster that usual.
