Hmm..maybe instead of button pressing, there is an area on your HUD that periodically flashes for like a moment. When this happens, that means click your mouse and if you click it right when the flash comes up, your character will pump a new (small) attack that goes through the beam to the end of it where both beams have collided giving your a small boost. This should happen periodically and it should be the new way of pumping ki into the attack rather than just holding down click or clicking really fast. This way its more of a timing and concentration type thing that "see who can click the fastest!" or just boring and holding down click. Of course, to be even, the flashes would happen to both characters at the same time, but should be random each PS so you can't time when it's going to happen. That way if you get to add another blast but your opponent doesn't click at the right moment, your beam moves up since he messed up. Of course, PL would have a lot to do with how far it moves up. So summed up, when two beams collide they stop right htere, and the balls do not move at all. The moving is figured out with how you click the mouse during the flashes, and the distance the ball moves each time you successfully click and your opponent fails, is determined by powerlevel. Not too bad of an idea, is it?
