I just realized something. Both DirectX and OpenGL have tessellation support and if I'm not mistaking, counter-strike had a tessellation patch long ago and made it look pretty good. Also serious sam had a patch like that but that's a totally different engine. I was thinking if maybe you guys can squeeze some tessellation in there for the player models to eliminate some of those unwanted edges? It can be disabled for people that don't have good PC's. It's just a thought. ;)

hehe, esf models are 3x higher than CS models :p
almost the same count as a source model actually.

I'm aware that the esf models have a lot more polys but I just wanted to show that the Gold Source engine is capable of that without having to mod it much.
So, since you guys added so many new features to the mod, why not add that one too? It will only make the models look even better. ;)

I don't think the version of OpenGL/extensions we're using has tesselation. Even if it does, it takes quite a bit of power and might not really be worth our time to implement considering our other work.

as i can see that applies some kind of mesh smoothing on them models, without proper smoothing groups it could get messy and even look pretty bad, it wont only need to be coded in, models need to be fitted to that system also. Believe that you wont start to notice the sharp edge flaws here and there for the first few months of playing the new version, counting all new features and maps or w/e as a distraction..

and even if you do, it wont bug you that much now will it ;p

All the models would have to be rerigged, which takes up a lot of time, and it takes a while to import the animations.

No offense, but get over it. I don't think your suggestion will make it in ESF :p

hehehe.. wanna know what more detail means?... ****ty deformation on animations.. Im only allowed so many bones, thats something we cant break. So if you wanna see clipping all over the models.. then we have to stop at some point

DT actually makes 1337 animations.. doesnt like em, then makes 400 new ones in 17 mins..
