Ok recently, my game sharks have stopped working. My gameshark media player just flickers back to my "video" screen after that disc in the corner stops spinning. My V3 gameshark also freezes when i select the codes menu. Also, my sone of the enders 2 freezes at a point. None of these disc have scratches on them, so I was wondering if my Ps2 is getting weaker (yes I have used a lens cleaner). Is it because of the dvds... :S

Sounds more like a technical problem than something simple being worn out.

I'd probably call Sony, and see what you'd have to do to repair it.

Using a gameshark violates your warranty, I believe. So does using third party controllers, third party memory cards, etc..

I seriously doubt Sony will help you.

only opening up the ps2 will void the warranty

they just say use first party stuff because they work better and give them money

its quite possible the laser unit itself is just getting worn out and is skipping on some things

Playstation 2 usually breaks about 2-5 years of owning. Everything can be perfectly fine until a year or two and it starts taking more time to load CD's...then it stops working. i dont know why happened to my friend starting to happen to me

Yea i had my old one for a few years then it started messing up, so i sold it. I got a new one last year and it still works fine. Ive heard that the old ones were just made outta crappy parts and that you could send it in to Sony (with the warranty) and they'd fix it for you free of charge.

Ah, a warranty? I got it for my birth day 2 years ago, I have no idea if the warranty still exist in the house.

Sailor Alea-Is that true? Because gameshark doesn't manipulate the PS2 itself, just the game's data.

Cucumba-Yes, but only when a gameshark is in, but then it starts spinnig fine.

But anyway, just emailed sony, hopefully a helpful response.

If it only happens with gameshark, its probably just that little thing. My advice? Seriously, just stop using it. I used to use gameshark a lot but it takes so much out of the game... Get used to playing legit, its so much better, and I guess saves

If you weren't cheating then this might not have happened...it's called Karma, you are merely being punished for your actions :D...

But other then that...call up sony they love to hear that people are cheating on all of there video games...who knows maybe they will help :D

It's not the GameShark. The oldest model of PS2 wore out after about a year, check your serial number, if it begins with a B then it's this model. The second generation ones were released to resolve the Disc Read Error problem but it only prolonged it to around 2 years...so I think this is the one you have. I had the same problem and my warranty had run out by then. I opened it up (no warranty = nothing to lose) and cleaned the lens with a q-tip and Windex and it worked for a few days at a time. In the end I bought the Silver PS2 so I wouldn't have to keep cleaning it (also for the IR sensor) and i've had no problems so far.

If your warranty is out then Sony will send you a new one for £70 but my advice is let go of your old one and get a Silver or a Slimline.

I don't really use gameshark to get things done faster, just to add more fun to the game, like inf ammo in San Andreas. Call me stubborn, but their are just some games I won't play w/o gameshark

Anyway, I might end up buying a new PS2 and get action replay, instead of the glitchy gameshark

Yeah, the codes Code Breaker gives are things that edit the games physics/rules and not just health or w/e.

But Action replay has that USB thing so I don't have to type in codes :/
