Update #5: Grass Hills
I finished the Grass Hills. It's easier to create rocks than it is interconnecting flat terrain that's for sure. The concept art I used was a rocky, jagged flat surface with grass on it, so I created juts on the surface to give it character and add minor obstacles. If it was all just flat and green it wouldn't be Planet Vegeta would it?
There's a ramp going up one side. After it curls around, one side goes down and the other continues up. Both loop back around to the last bit of land which connects to each upper and lower.
I lowered and widened the grass hill in the middle so it's not as high. I'm happy with how it all turned out.
I have lots of ideas for future edits. I'll share my edited overview with you, but good luck making sense with it.
I plan on having 2 undergrounds. One has the waterfall near the entrance, and the terrain slopes towards the canyon. Behind it, the lava comes down and there's a little area to fight there with the lava surrounding the land.
In the other underground, tall pillars will be separating open gaps. There's a round raised platform around the bottom, kind of like on the surface right above it. In the north end of the underground, there's a private area with tall, flat pillars that players can jump on. I'm thinking of making an entrance come out at the top somewhere, maybe near the grass hill that's there. I don't know yet, I like how it's a bit more remote as it is.
I won't be able to finish the underground before my 3ds Max free trial expires, so I'm just going to focus on finishing the other underground area and combining the obstacles with the terrain, then Terraforming. Once a first version of the map is released, myself or others may make these edits in the future.
