Ok i was thinking of a way to counter melee, and i though of parry.
heres a stick figure pic of how it works.
now heres an explanation.
When somone charges at you planing on basic melee, if your not blocking you get hit. but if you block right at the point of impact. Then what will happen is what you see in the 3rd pic above. you push the fist/foot away to your side and spin around and kick them behind you like you see in the bottom 2. every character can have their own way of doing it to match their character. (e.g. Trunks using sword maybe and freiza using his tail.
i know theres bound to be people complain about "lag" issues. but most things are based on low ping. (like teleing away right before you get hit.) and dont play in high ping servers.
now for ping problems it could be like .25 of a second or so where it has to be right when you get hit.
idea is changed from dodging basic to adv.
(in the end its the teams desision on which gets blocked if its ever considered)
