Online ping problems

My line got hit recently by lighting and my ping has doubled in most of my online games (half-life based ones)

Are there any half-life commands I could use to try and reduce my ping?

(btw, my telephone company won't do anything, and it's [SAS]Orion's modem, not mine =])

cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101

mess around with those last 3.

make sure you have net_graph 3 on so you can see your choke/loss.

forgot this one:
cl_latency

mines at about -50.000521

but i suggest you make a backup of your config first

now its a hardware problem cause my modem got hit with lightning and it got fried completely i had to replace mine i think u should get it looked at. Because it might be fixable if its still workin at half speed.

if it´s not your modem, it´s their hardware or the line itself
your only problem is that telephone companies aren´t interested in pings
only if the error reduces the bandwidth (and thereby the quality of the line) they will do something
