Oh noes! My Steam engine exploded :-(

I downloaded this ESF game for this Steam thing (oh this unspeakable Steam program, it gives me grief) and now it won't let me play! WTF, right? I get this glorious message:

E-mail address blacked for my pleasure

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I certainly would love to jump in and play ESF with you guys!

Try downloading this, http://www.mechmod.com/team/pcjoe/fmod.dll
And save the file in your Half-Life folder

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but why should i have to download from some unfamiliar site just to get my game working?

Any idea how to fix it without downloading strange files?

If you need any proof that the link is valid, it is mechmod, a mod organised and run by our very own Hippo Bear, Gr00vy. It is also pcjoes devteam folder.

But it's up to you if you take my help. I am a moderator on these forums and I didnt get to where I am by giving out false and invalid links to help people on the forums.

You shouldn't worry about downloading .dlls unless they go into a system directory.

Ok, I don't really know how to put it in my hl directory though, Steam confuses me...

put it there..

The question why you got that problem is because you might installed a mod with a never Fmod version.

Esf uses an older one.
Thats why you get that error .
