I think its sad how people call others noobs as an insult. They are only insulting the people who are truly newbies.

I prefer to use the term newbie. Its easier to type, and it sounds more refined. I refuse to put numbers in place of letters whenever I do type anyways...

According to XSilentlyXDiesX, who spent about 30 minutes trying to insult me the last time I ran into him on a server, the term "n00b" is used to describe someone who uses cheap tactics, or is an unskilled player. The term "Newbie" is used for those who are actually new to the game. Personally, people who use "n00b" as an insult piss me off, because it's just a cop out for when you don't know what to call someone or why you are calling them something. I typically chase down those players...

Couldn't agree more. The term spelled n00b. Or anything else relating to "1337" is absurd. I don't know who started it, or why it is still around. But it makes everyone sound like they have a mental retardation.

Which contrary to popular belief, is not all that funny.

not really....newb,nub, noob (n00b same diff.) are all used interchangably.

newbie was first then newb then all the other variations followed.

personally i use n00b to say that they are a newbie and not as in insult. I would refer to myself as a n00b at C&C Generals since i only got it today :p

1337 sp34k is crazy but not for use 24/7 occasion use can be funny, over use is when mental retardation comes in lol.......
i really am laughing at my own joke dear god and im all alone here. (meh it is 1am)

Just thought i would add something since it is sort of on topic.
There are certain types of people why play internet games think they are '1337' because they stick 'tbh' at the end of every sentence they say. I know this may sound like an exaggertaion but i assure you its not. And ive encountered many people who do it.

For example:- I was playing counter strike and this 1 guy kept saying "n00b teams tbh", and when he died "ffs tbh". he had me instiches. Then the admin was slaying people and he started saying "n00b admin, n00b server tbh". Then started saying "newmap tbh" "someone come ct tbh". I had to laugh and decided to let him know i was laughing at him for it. Then he told me to "stfu tbh". lmfao

Has anyone else encountered people someone like that before?

I suggest running along and leaving dead topics dead. I'll take over from here.
