ya go 9800. It is baisicially up to date with every game out there. Plus it is really nice, my friend has it. He went from a geforce something or other, I think 2. To a 9800 pro and he said the difference just blew him away.

It doesn't matter what someone else says, it matters what really happens. Get doom 3 and test it yourself.

I can run doom 3 on ultra high settings with a geforce 256 and get 40 fps average.

See how easy that was?

lol i wouldnt of thought it would of cost $5,000 for a graphics card, Damn!

SV to work out £, get the $ and divide by 1.75, if you want the $ price, get the £ and times by 1.75 ^^

Its a fine looking graph card, and will last for awhile so i think if thats within your budget buy it.

Also you could overclock it...however dont do this unless you got the knowledge for it.

And yes it will work great with doom 3, however that will depend if you got doom 3 original or not.

If original it will work great, but if you dl-ded doom 3 it wont, cuz the dl version isnt really 100%

PLEASE dont buy a 128mb card... if you are planning on running d3 and/or hl2 then you will definitely will need at least 256 mb.
since these games are based on cards with 512mb for the max settings.

i have the 9600 xt 256mb and it serves me well !
the 9800 xt 256 mb is of course better but it's gonna cost you alot more.

i'd say the 9600xt 256mb is a best buy if you compare price to quality
but just PLEASE DONT go with a 128mb.. seriously

btw i play doom on high . i got all the advanced options on and i have an average fps of about 45.
and that's pretty good hehe

btw final vegeta
please dont talk crap about the dl version of d3.
i downloaded it and look above. fps average 45 on high....
but just to make this clear i had already ordered it last week but didnt feel like waiting for it. in a day or 2 i will have the original.

theres almost no difference between 9800 128ddr and 9800 256ddr... in most of the cases, a 128 ddr is better then the 256ddr since 256 are still relativly new and the memory chips used on it are rather low quality, resulting in poor performance (worse than 128)

it isnt worth the extra money... unless you want to brag about the fact that you have a 256ddr gfxcard

only retards will say that a 256 is waaay betetr than a 128 atm becuase 256 looks and soudns better than 128.. well, wake up.. at this point, there is no such thing.. ati r9800 256ddr isnt better than ati r9800pro 128ddr

it might be a tad bit slower but it's BETTER.
i didnt say it was WAAAAY better but it's better ;-) since you have more ddr on your gfx card means that you wont have to write that much to your cpu ddr.
and THAT means that your game will run smoother.
so 256 IS better then 128. otherwise they wouldnt make it...

and you are right. ati r9800 256 isnt better then r9800pro 128...
but a ati r9800pro 256 is better then r9800 pro 128
and xt is even better...
