Eyeless - Bring Me The Horizon (slipknot cover)

IMO, I think it's one of the few covers i've heard that was better than the original.

Mephisto, I don't know who you are, but if I had any respect for you you just lost it.

Anyway, IRON MAIDEN- The Prisoner
It IS a good cover. Actually it's a great cover. One thing CoF does right. Although the person who made that video got it wrong, that song wasn't on Damnation and A Day.

Dark Fortress - Baphomet

@Lith - Yea, death metal is funny sometimes, but that song is freaking awesome.

No it isn't, the song starts off with sound effects and crap instead of instrumentals, and the singer's digitally edited voice can barely hit ANY of the insanely wide range of vocal notes Bruce displayed in this song. At 2:00 he also sings faster than he usually does which doesn't really fit him. He also sings really quietly which doesn't fit this song at all, I don't even know why he attempted it. You can't growl a song with such amazing vocals, but he refuses to sing normally. Of course, this song is full of evidence that it has been heavily edited, too (Such as 6:00+ when the vocalist is both singing the main and backing). All of Iron Maiden's songs are performed without any editing just standing in front of the mic playing the song the entire way through, not playing certain riffs and slapping them together in an audio editor. That cover is just an insult to Iron Maiden.

Song writing is far, far more impressive than singing or playing instruments because playing or singing can be taught and trained- song writing requires creativity and intelligence. Iron Maiden are probably the best songwriters in the world because they have never made a drug song, a love song or a cover- the three easiest types of songs to write, and a cop-out almost all bands fall into to try and get mainstream appeal.
Ever hear of artistic interpretation? I'm sure the guys in Cradle are huge fans of Iron Maiden, I mean if you're in a metal band and you aren't influenced by Maiden then there's something wrong with you. But in saying that you also have to realize that Cradle's style of music is vastly different from that of Maiden. No they don't have epic, soaring vocals over heavy guitar riffs, they're a ****ing death/black metal band. Just because they over-dub they're guitars and vocals doesn't make it bad music. It's like when you manipulate something in Photoshop, you have multiple layers. Not saying that Maiden didn't have a thick sound, but sometimes bands like to put it on a little heavier. I've also seen Cradle live, and believe me Dani FIlth can hit those notes with out them being digitally enhanced. The guy's got a crazy voice, and just because he uses it for screaming doesn't mean he's not as good or as talented. Sure that's up to someone's personal discretion, but it's still hard as **** to scream and growl like that, almost as much as singing normally.

As for your second paragraph, you've obviously never listened to Cradle's songs. Damnation and a Day alone is a great album that deals with how Satan became Satan. It's a great album with a lot of great themes. The only reason bands nowadays perform covers is because they want to put their own artistic vision on they're musical hero's songs. That it why this cover is good, they didn't imitate the song, they put their own twist on it. Sure people like listening to covers too, but bands don't make covers for mainstream appeal, they want to pay a tribute to the gods of heavy metal.
