Is it using the HL2 engine this time around?

Started off on the HL2 engine, then they switched it over to their own custom engine. They supposedly wrote a lot of the code in lua so moving the code from hl2 to a new engine wouldn't have been too bad. Though I also read that the maps are in the same format (?) as hl2 maps
