You ALSO call an underclassman ****-kun, which all 3 of them were. He never calls Neji "Neji-kun."

I think the point is if you are looking for reasons why Lee didn't take his weights off during the sound ninja fight, you can find quite a few.

You don't EVER have to call anyone 'kun.' If you knew any sort of Japanese, you'd know that.

Ever notice how Sakura constantly says "Sasuke-kun," but only says "Naruto,"?

It's a term of affection, not status. Naruto doesn't call him 'Lee-san,' he calls him Geji-Mayu, a disrespectful term. The reason for the -kun is affection in this case, not social status--which they obviously don't care about.

That doesn't change the situation in which Rock Lee refers to Sasuke.

Why not? Lee beat Sasuke easily before the exam, why shouldn't he be the slightest bit condecending? And if he wasn't being condecending, and just polite, then Sasuke-kun carries the same feeling as just Sasuke, which makes him not an important person.

Also, I drive from Indianapolis to Dayton, Ohio every Satuday to practice kendo at the Dayton dojo. Most of the regulars are Japanese who speak very little english. I hear a LOT of Japanese, try to pick up what I can.. I have never heard a student adress an instructor as ___-kun, I hear a lot of instructors adress students as ____-kun. I am adressed as "kun" sometimes, I have no particular relationship with any of the instructors. So yes, you probably aren't required to adress an underclassman as "kun", but that doesn't mean it never(or rarely) happens.

Just because you can use -kun in a condescending way doesn't mean -Lee- is using that reference in accordance to Sasuke.

He considers Sasuke to be less talented in the beginning, because he so easily defeats him--then learns to respect him as he sees his techniques copied. He continues to call him Sasuke-kun throughout the entire series, as well as Naruto.

He doesn't -hate- geniuses, as I said before. He resents not being one, and wants to prove you can surpass them without being one yourself.

And just because you can use kun in an affectionate way doesn't mean Lee is adressing Sasuke affectionately.

Resent usually carries animosity, even if just a little. Or jealousy. Dislike. Besides, I don't think he resents not being a genius, I think he resents the typical genius personality. Neji and Sasuke are actually very similar.

You are playing it pretty fast and loose with some of those assumptions; as am I. It's probably time to agree to disagree. :)

;/ Then why bother posting in this thread if you don't care about it?

I'm not an avid car fan, but I don't go telling skyliner to get a life because he likes cars. :S

Heh, the kun argument stemmed from the original topic. What you posted was totally off-topic, you hate anime in general, that's not what we're talking about. So please, just step out of the thread :/.

Son? I'm pretty sure it's Goku's last name.

As for the mystic thing, I only saw that part in English but they said it wouldn't work or some nonsense.

In response to Crackerjack's question, Gohan never "Went SSJ in Mystic," because he couldn't. Mystic replaced the Super Saiyan transformation, and in fact that's how the old kai explained to Gohan how to turn Mystic--to try to transform into a super saiyan.

Yeah. I clearly remember hearing the old kai say, "Okay, do that super saiyan thing or whatever it is you do."

o_O

I'm only up to Episode 8 xD, but only being up to Episode 8 is enough to know that Naruto pwns teh Dbz, it's kind of annoying though, out of the 1600 kids at my school, only about 10 tops know what Naruto even is.
