Yea, I pretty much hate the Source engine's FPS as well. It has some retarded problems that can make the FPS drop dramatically. For example you can be in a very highly detailed map and your FPS would still stay nicely at around 200 even on a crappy comp like mine. But if you make something explode under you, your FPS can drop from 200 to 5 in less then a second. And you have to w8 till the smock clears or get the hell out of there.
Personally I think the most FPS friendly engine atm is the Unreal Engine 3. :cool:
