Source: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64626If you've ever wanted to explore space and didn't have the $20 million to make the trip yourself, we've got some good news. Moonbase Alpha, a NASA-sponsored educational "exploration game" developed by The Army Game Studio and Virtual Heroes, is now available on Steam for the low, low price of free.
Using latest in NASA technology in multiple scenarios in gameplay for up to six players, Moonbase Alpha hopes to educate players while also proving, once and for all, that the moon is not made of cheese.

I'm enjoying it so far, though it's short on content (one mission, if I'm not mistaken). But, if I recall correctly, Moonbase Alpha is a "prologue" of sorts to Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond (a NASA MMO that is still in development).
