I am gave suggestions ( in first post ) about what some people might want, gathering it from the forums. But my self, I have no problem with melee, except for the weird melee blotchiness sometimes, it makes u go slower :/ maybe its just me, but it makes u get out of swoop way to far from ur target and u have to move to hit him ( using direction keys ) and it pisses me off.

how about head ons are decided by who swoops first, that way the other person has no choice but to block or move out of the way when swooped.... i'm not too sure about this idea, lemme know what you think :)

I say bring back the old way of hit detection, revise the hitboxes, take away or severely lessen the non-swoop zones, and try fixing the instant block counter, and you've got it made.

how about this the melee system should be calculated 2/8 ki, 2/8 pl, 1/8 Speed( from charackter) and a random value to make it special:D and a bit from technic for example with teleport and such things. well, that are my suggestions not the best but i hope it helps^^

ps: sry for Bad English, German Boy ^_^

I think head ons should just push both players back. It definitely shouldn't be off PL and it needs some stiff revision if it was to be based off of ki. PL means that someone that's been in the server for 20 minutes will always beat someone who has just joined.

I think if it doesn't push people back, it should be swoop distance. The longer the distance, the more momentum you've built up, the more force you'd be applying, the higher the chances you should have of winning a head on. Think about it. If someone's running at someone at full speed with a slightly increasing rate of speed, someone who's standing still isn't going to be able to push them back unless under extreme circumstances. This would squash the whole sit, charge and head on technique that's popping up.

Just to get things strait, we have the entire beta 1.2 (or atleast most of it) planned out. I'm NOT asking for beta 1.2 suggestions. I'm asking for some ideas to improve beta 1.1 melee in the off chance of HarSens agreeing to create a small beta 1.15 to fix acouple of the bugs/problems..
And as most of you know, in beta 1.2 there is a mp_simplemelee cvar ( enabling you to use to current melee ), so even if there isn't a beta 1.15 patched, it will be applied to beta 1.2.

My original suggestion. It seems quite popular not that I'm cruising the melee threads. I still think it's a great one *if* you think there is too much emphasis on head ons right now, PCJoe. You're right... head ons *do* make life a hell of a lot easier, but should we really promote the easy way out? Your call.

I do like the idea that both players get knocked back a bit, though. It could get annoying, but it would be the same principle; do you want to promote people banging heads together instead of being tactical? Then again, 1.2 is for being tactical, maybe 1.15 melee wont be. You're the one with ultimate power over the decision.

hehehe the swoop problem is easily solved.

just make it so that both players get kicked back and lose health.

the one kicks the other away, but the other kicks the one away.

i think a powerstruggle meter could come up but it wouldn't last as long as most power struggles involving beams last though... it could be a quick 1..2..3.. type of think that could be based on ki if necessary but i'd rather have it be based on something else like tapping a button, but then again binds could be made for it. but whoever would win the mini ps would win the head on. i think it would solve the problem of people just floating around waiting for people to attack them, then to go for headons to get a cheap auto win

All I ask is to have some way of fighting in close range melee. Have a Ki Boost Attack that propels u to enemy (no aura) with a weak knock back move or something! Its annoying having to tele away after every block...This can be similar to DragonMod Z's "Hyper Punch" move, but ofcourse, it cannot be the same thing.

How about we just reverse the current system? Instead of whoever has more ki we make it whoever has less. Here's my reasoning:

Less ki = more vulnarable. Swooping takes a lot of ki. So does teleporting. Melee in general sucks up all of your energy. The less you have going into a fight the more dangerous things are. You're more likely to run out of ki and fall or be unable to avoid being hit by the other guy, it's harder to mix in beams for the same reason, and swooping drains ki faster than anything. Right now people just want to stay at max ki full time, so there's a whole lot of flying away, charging up, and waiting for your opponent to attack. If you reversed the ki thing, the only way you could take advantage of head ons would be by teleporting at your enemy before you swooped, but since most people on the offensive end of these conflicts teleport before they swoop anyway it wouldn't be as easy to abuse as many people might suspect. It certainly wouldn't be as easy to abuse as the current system, since having more ki than your opponent gives you the advantage of endurance *and* priority, whereas having *less* ki than your opponent gives you some serious disadvantages, particularly if you miss and have to teleport away or try to escape.

Just a thought to chew on.

I like this idea, and it makes sense. If you've been using Ki to push yourself towards somebody, you gain more momentum as you continue on. so if you were to swoop for a bit and use more ki, then you would gain more momentum to smack that person around.

Things look nice on paper don't they.In fact people would still abuse it. just do the opposite of what we have now and that is what the most people will do.

And what's your point? I said it would be *less* abusable. Think about it: If you are intentionally going into every swoop trying to have less ki than the other guy you are actually taking the risk of running out of ki. If you try to abuse the current system you just go into a swoop at full ki and you're better off all around, no matter what happens. If you actually tried to abuse my system and you missed, or your opponent teleported out of the way, you could have just screwed yourself over.

I know it's impossible to bring back the 1.0 melee into 1.1, but now it seems that in 1.1 other attacks are a lot more fun then melee itself...but what the hey....gonna live with what you got...anyways what I'm trying to say is that some of my clan's ppl (including me) are disappointed about the melee in 1.1...and I hope that it will be better in later versions...ciao

what if you make it the pl you had when you started the swoop. Instead of the pl when they connect on the head on collision. And if pl's are pretty close to each other make the speed of the character the defining factor who wins.

1.) That would be complicated and it'd take time to balance.
2.) It would take time to balance because the Saiyans beat everyone except for skinny Buu.

We need a system that isn't PL biased.

sonic about ur idea of reversing it.... so simple yet so good at same time. That would solve a lot of problems with people standing around doing nothing, because they wouldn' be able to win any head ons if they just sit around all day. It would also make it easier to recover from a beating in the way melee is set up now also.. good idea ;)

then maybe my other idea of using the combination of the persons strength and speed would be better.

Dont mind me im just spitting up ideas. Maybe someone will read it and think of something better or build on my idea
