Right I haven't watched the whole fight, just the beginning of it. What I wanted to know is, if Goku reached SSJ3 in front of Fat Buu way back in the saga, then why didn't he go SSJ3 at the beginning of the fight with Kid Buu, or even the previous Buus before Kid Buu?

Was it just a way to keep the fans watching until Goku went SSJ3?

-Just to repeat, I haven't seen the whole fight yet, just the start, so I don't know if he goes SSJ3 yet or not...-

It was the first time goku fought kidbuu, and his size made him seem weak and puny. So my guess is that goku didnt know how much power he was going to have to use to defeat kidbuu.

Also...Goku NEVER goes in full blast. If it were Vegeta, it might have been a different story.

Which is because he likes to learn his opponent's weaknesses and strategies first :] he says it a bunch of time through-out the series im pretty sure.

goku ssj3 could easily defeat fat buu, piccolo said that one or two episodes after the fight with fat buu.he just didnt destroy buu because he wanted that one but him protects the earth.or because he wanted to others to reach their full strength or maybe because he is an idiot.

Goku didn't destroy Fat Buu because he knew he wouldn't be around forever and he wanted the boys to have a chance at saving the world. That's why he didn't kill him at SSJ3. Only when he realised his mistake did he take on Buu.

I think Goku had a good point. He was there that day by a huge unnatural coincidence; what would have happened if he weren't there? The earth and everyone on it woul dhave been dead, no questions asked. So I kind of got the whole "I need to teach the others to handle themselves" thing.

As for SSJ3 versus Buu...Goku often holds back till powering up is absolutely necessary. It gives the opponent a false sense of security number one, and number two, it wears them out.

Yeah exactly, he knew that he wouldn't be able to come back and save them everytime so he had to make sure the boys could handle themselves. When realised that Gotenks didn't stand a chance, even Mystic Gohan, he had to step in.

Isn't Mystic Gohan meant to be all mighty, fast and powerful though? Yet he got wooped?

Gohan got whooped because Majin Buu absorbed Gotenks and gained a HUGE, yet temporary, power boost which Gohan couldn't handle. Before this though, for a short time, Gohan was trouncing Buu.

Also remember that at this point Goku is very much alive. During the fight against Fat Buu Goku was dead and his body had little problems dealing with the incredible amount of energy SSJ 3 involved - though it did shorten his time on Earth drastically.

While alive Goku's body finds it a lot harder to control the amount of power SSJ 3 creates; thats why he found it so hard to hold that form during his fight against Kid Buu and that, I'd imagine, is why he put off using it for as long as he did.

Edit: I'd also like to say that had Mystic Gohan or SSJ 3 Gotenks been on the planet of the Kai's during the fight, it would have been them and not Goku who defeated Kid Buu. Both fighters were significantly stronger than Goku - their being left behind on Earth had a lot more to do with the fact that Toriyama wanted Goku to be the true hero.

You know what's interesting, though? The spirit bomb (as I understand it, at least) supposedly is made entirely of a unique kind of positive pure energy. Which reacts to evil energy sort of like anti-matter reacts to matter. So honestly, no matter what Gohan and Gotenks did, I doubt they would have been able to kill Kid Buu. It would have just kept regenerating, wouldn't it? The only reason why they beat him was because the spirit bomb destroys negative energy, and Buu sort of is the personification of that.

I was always really upset that Majin Vegeta never tried the Final Flash...

[EDIT: Of course, Engar, everything you say is true too. Didn't mean to seem like i was trying to discredit your thoughts on Toriyama etc.)

Well, you cant really say that. Cell was able to regenerate from a single cell, and if I remember correctly Gohan just like vaporized him. If they had done the same thing to Kid Buu, I think they couldv won too.

Also, I dont remember where I read this, but Im pretty sure I read that Mystic Gohan could go SSJ and what not, but that with all the energy he was warned that it would like destroy the planet or something. Also, Gohan mightv had a better chance at Buu if he continued training instead of becoming a goody goody college student.

He does it in GT. But when he first goes mystic, the Old Kai says to him to "try going Super Saiyan" or something like that. Then later, other characters remark that "he's not even a Super Saiyan!" So I think that he can go super saiyan but the power boost would be insane. Supposedly, "Mystic Gohan" is simply what Gohan's power would be like if it was completely maxed out in his normal form.

Nope, but this is because the creators of GT convieniently forgot about Gohans Mystic Acension. They did this in order to weaken Gohan, this way they could have their 'Goku is the Best!' storyline without any trouble from the other characters.
