go to modifier tab (the bleu bended pipe) click on edit poly (or mesh) than it should turn yellow and have vertex edit mode automaticly selected

to add edges > go to edge mode (an empty trianlge button)
select 2 edges, rigth click > connect
a new edge should be created
im pretty sure madaxman described this method in his tut

vertices= multiple vertex lol, creating a vertex is simple, when ur in vertex mode click on create (in the edit geometry) and click where u want to create it.
there is also an less effective way of creating edges
go into edge mode > edit geometry: cut , than click one edge to start cutting and click on another to cut the edge in half
hope that makes sense

Uhm, seems to me that your "VERY" new to modeling.

You are having lots of problems and get stuck it seems... I suggest reading a basic tutorial or somthing...

www.onnovanbraam.com has some nice ones.

I almost thought you were another victim of the dreaded vertex bandit.

There are lots of tutorials that help you with the programs. Some on this site seem more helpful than many others. Good luck with modeling.
