Hello, I have yet another question. I have never made a server and i wish to know how to make one, a temporary one and a permanent one, yes i know there is thread but i searched and got nothing. I am using esf/ecx(know not supposed to ask ecx questions here, but seems like an important part). My thanks in advance.

Listen server = start steam, start ESF, select create server, turn off LAN mode, select run. Thats all. You may need to forward the HL ports if your router or firewall is blocking you. But tahts all.

Dedicated server = instal Half Life dedicated server, install ESF into that, run the thing with the ESF game parameter (dont know what exactly it is), make sure ports are open, in the console set sv_lan to 0 and thats all. You could allso buy a Half Life server online (just make sure it supports modifications and AMXX) Since ECX is an amxx server pluggin for ESF.

you either unselect the option in the create server menu or use the sv_lan 0 command. Ofcourse youll have to restart the servr if you use the console command. You do so by using the "restart" console command

You may not need to.

But if you have to then youll have to read the insctuction manual of your router or the firewally setup guide.

Is that site safe? Just curious
Yes, it's safe.

Click on the link SS4 Gogeta provided > Click the "Routers" link in the second paragraph > Look through the list for your router make and model, then click on it > Look for "Half-Life" and click on that link > Just follow the steps and you're good to go.
