Yeah, some of you guys know that my dad was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a month or so ago, and his blood sugar was pretty high, but we found something that really works with controlling diabetes.
Now, I know a lot of people have diabetic family members/friends or are diabetics themselves and they use medication to help them control diabetes, but from what I've seen with 8 people, after the first 3 or 4 years, it stops working.
My grandmother is physically unable to lose weight, her hearing has vanished, her voice is going too, she's weak, she's losing energy, and she is slowly dying right in front of everybody. She takes the medication, and has been taking it for over 20 years. She's the reason my father ventured for some other way. Not to mention his two uncles, three great aunts, and one of his cousins who are all turning out the same way.
So my father searched and searched, and finally got recommendation by a Dr. Bashire's to go on this diet. I won't name the diet until the very end so that people aren't biased towards it, but if you want to go ahead and check, be my guest. Also, if you guess it, that's okay. That means you're at least partially familiar with the diet.
Anyways, this diet requires three stages, but one constant thing: fat. Now, I know a lot of people say that fat is bad for you, but a lot also say that they were wrong in the past and that fat is actually good for you.
Each stage lasts from one to two weeks, depending on how far you want it to come along. The first stage requires 0 carbs, then the second requires 20 carbs, and the third depends on your body. My brother is shooting for 40, and my father is shooting 50. The diet consists of healthy food, and some unhealthy food thrown in and about.
For one month my dad has been taking this diet, having omelettes dripped with bacons and mushrooms for breakfast, salads with bleu cheese dressing and bacon, quacamole, and cheese for lunch, and then he has pot roast or some other form of cooked meat (his favorite is beef, although he had lots of fish in the first two stages of the diet) and two servings of veggies with one serving of grain (corn, rice, potatoes... anything in that group). For his snack, he has triscuit, pork rinds with hot sauce, or ice cream.
Eating this, last Friday he went to the doctor for his monthly check-up, and apparently, if they hadn't already diagnosed the diabetes, they wouldn't have believed he had them. He wasn't just doing great, he was exactly on the blood-sugar count that non-diabetics of his height had. Not only that, but he's lost down from a 42 waist to a 38. He's also more energetic and less grouchy.
This diet is the Atkin's diet, and I suggest buying Atkin's "Fat Fast" (for first-time users: the fat fast is a little three-day thing to help test and see if this diet will work for you) and his "Atkin's Diet Plan" books before you go "that doesn't work".
So, anyways, if you're a diabetic or know a diabetic, tell them about this! It really works! He's down to testing his blood once a day! And I know there are some people who prefer the medicine, and that's good, but if they're willing to try, this is something that will help them.
NOTE: It didn't help my mom lose weight, remember that. Her bloodsugar is fine, although she's not diabetic, but she's not losing weight. She has gained energy, though, and she no longer cramps when it's her time of the month. She's been suffering from constant stomach aches in addition to that for the past 5 years, and after this diet, she's practically dancing.
So, honestly, give it shot.
