Highest Resolution for textures?

What is the highest resolution for a texture for a half-life model?
I've seen 512x512 is there any way you could get a higher resolution?

Is there any released compiler/mod?

there are a lot of released mods, but compilers for them.. I'm not sure.
NNK for example works with .msh files, you configure what is where in there, and you can use 1024x1024 textures with it. But only in NNK.

What a shame, Sting who's working on ECX WoD wanted me to make HD Textures for his models, maybe ESF Final will use .msh files like NNK too.
