Help with installing esf

I bought the boxed set for half-life that contains counter-stike, i updated counter stike as much as it would let me.

I downloaded esf, 1.2, intalled it into the ctsike directory, activated the game mode, created a game, then it starts, loads a lil bit then just turns off !

I made esf work beofre a few yeras ago, but that may have been an earlier version or something, my guess is that my counter-strike isnt up to date...

It says it is version 1.3
It wont let me update it anymore.

I really need help on this 1 !

Welcome to the ESF forums.

You need to download and install Steam. Once you have installed Steam, run Half-Life from Play Games once. After that, run the ESF 1.2 installer and point it to your Steam's Half-Life folder and let it install. Then do the same with the 1.2.1 ESF patch installer. And you're all sorted, run Earth's Special Forces from either Steam or your desktop shortcut.
