So what I dont understand is, how is this really going to affect the entire internet?
I mean we know the internet exists beyond the United States. So how will that even work?
Anyways, I took two seconds out of my day to cast my vote.

Put simply. Google will no longer find ANY site that has ANY content that would be flagged.

And since Google is a US based company they have to apply to US laws. So pretty much Google and the companies that it owns would have to go police state on their sites out of fear of prosecution.

To name 1 thing.

No more AMVs, no more clips from movies no more anything thats not 100% owned by the people uploading that stuff.

And since google would be forced to leave out searches for questionable sites you can imagine the effect that could have.

Kinda like when China blocked facebook due to the revolution in Egypt

Google being just one example of course.
But that would kill Google. Noone would use it anymore.
Leaving the door open for a new search engine based outside the US.

What do you think how long it would take for europe to follow suit with such an act.

What's their purpose of censorship?

Is it simply to give a swift death to all free speeches and sense of liberty? Or is there something more?

The pretense is to stop piracy. By forcing the DNS system to ignore sites that have content flagged as copyrighted. Meaning that if your site has flagged content, not even entering the URL will bring you to the site, because the URL will be disabled.

Thats about how the link in the first post explains it.

Meaning the internet would become a police state.
