You aren't supposed to install anything off a CD.

The only thing you need is the cd key.

Once you have the cd key, press the "Activate a product on Steam..." just like in this picture:

After entering your cd key, Half-Life will install onto your steam account. Run Half-Life once it's finished, then install ESF.

That's the only way to install Half-Life on steam without purchasing it directly from Steam. If you're doing it another way, you're doing it the wrong way.

That's because you can't play ESF with the CS edition, only with the original Half-Life.

Okay i'll do all this later, when i am back.


But i also got C.S 1.6 with Steam (from CD)

and if i install esf in it and try to open Cs it gives me an other error lol.

You need Half-Life 1 running over steam and also you do it useing a CD-Key you will find the CD-Key on the Half-Life CD
