2 find ur Processor speed and type, do the following:
Start->Run and type in dxdiag
(also im guessin ur SiS grafics chip is shared memory? If so try doing wot cucumba sed and get a GeForce and also have at least 128mb (256mb recomended))
it will have ur CPU type and speed on the main page of Direct X Diagnostic Tool

Don't double post, use the edit button.

You need to look at some cold hard facts, your machine is really old, at it's finest, my Celeron 466 could only push 20 frames at 1024x768. That was with 384MB Ram and a TNT2 Ultra 32MB AGP card. Your system needs ram, and needs it badly, at least 256 MB. Then dedicate 32 or 64 MB ram to the video, you should see instant increases in performance. A GeForce2 MX will cost about $100 if you shop around, 256 MB RAM will cost about $60. Don't bother with a GeForce 4 MX, your processor will choke it. In addition, you need to check and see if you have a 250W power supply or greater.

For a nice GeForce 2 for cheap :
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_...98146/search=geforce 2 mx/ut=427721877558c978

Or for a nice GeForce 4 MX :
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_...0/search=GeForce%204%20MX/ut=427721877558c978

Get 512 MB SD Ram (I think SD is the only kind your motherboard will support) :
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_...7/search=512%20MB%20SDRam/ut=427721877558c978

Here is a Pentium 3 that will increase your performance dramatically :
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_...447119/search=Pentium%203/ut=427721877558c978

Here is a cheap 330W power supply unit that will power your computer just right :
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_...348/search=Power%20Supply/ut=427721877558c978

I think your computer will accept these, if not you can always try and get a nice new computer.
www.dell.com
www.gateway.com
www.alienware.com
www.cyberpowerinc.com
These all advertise cheap computers. Alienware is a little on the expensive side compared to the others.

I hope this helped.

You don't have to get all of the stuff, but if you did, you would get probly 200%+ better performance. Try the GeForce 2 32MB card and see if it helps, but with that amount of ram and the processor... It wont help much.

Well after you get the GeForce 2, download the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com and then run your game in OpenGL.

Also, add these to your config file in Sierra/Counter-Strike(or Half-Life)/ESF.

Yes, you can expect an increase. I strongly suggest a RAM upgrade (256MB minimum), a GeForce 2 MX (GeForce 4 is to manly for your computer, it would be a waste of money) and a processor upgrade. You need to read your motherboard's manual to see what processors it will accept.

Go ahead and pop it in, I think it'll work. Wait for Cucumba to say its ok before you do though. Id like his opinion to. I dont think that missing 1 mb ram will cause it any problems. Cucumba, whatcha think?

Youll definitely see an improvement, but not an astonishing improvement. You've really got to upgrade your computers processor and ram.

you need at least 128 mb of RAM to run HL properly, and 256 mb RAM to run ESF properly

also youlll need a new video card, they already talked about it,but getting a geforce2 MX is a good
idea,it runs well

and if you still arent satisfied....you might need to get a new motherboard

BTW,if you try to install a GeForce2 MX 32MB without any RAM upgrades....well,expect some major lag and fps loss....but processor....it depends on what card youre buying (I think)

Recommended for you at least:

Geforce2 MX
256MB RAM
Intel Pentium 3/Celeron more than 500mHz

and this is off-topic,but I got a new pc and gonna install ESF on it(finally!!)

It has a GeForce4 and 256MB RAM,and a P4 2.4 gHz....it runs like a dream....

*sees 120 mb RAM*

gj on that, but for now that only video card I can think of getting for you is the GF 2,because I have seen them and they come a more cheaper than a GF 4(which you prolly should NOT get)

and I reckon a GF4 will be around....
*whips out a calculator to convert HK currency to US currency*

.
$40 USD in my place....hmmm...not bad for a decent video card....

but I really recommend a bit more CPU speed....but that is optional

at least you got the RAM upgrade, thats good for starters...

BTW,where'd Cuc and UltraPerfectCel go huh huh??
