Help Playing ESF

I was just wondering what version of CS do u need to play ESF cause mine isnt working and i am just trying to figure out why, any help will be much appreciated thanks.

The current version of CS retail is 1.0.0.5.
If you don't have that version, you can download the patch that works for any version <a href="http://www.counter-strike.net/retail_full.html">here</a>.

So then u need the newest version of CS to play ESF? cause i have the oldest version
