Well I got the cord (8 bucks apparently....for a cord.). It works great now; MY computer doesn't restart when it turns on, City of Heroes looks exceptional now, and The Sims plays smoother and has stopped the frequent crashing.

Thanks all who made suggestions and Smith for his recommendation because I ended up buying the 6600 GT from the site.
