I guess I'll lay out my ghost sighting. When I was about 10 years old my mom and I lived in a creepy little condominum a couple of miles from where I live now, which was run by relatively creepy people with relatively creepy neighbors. I mean, it was already scary as it was, it was just kinda set up for ghosts and zombies and creepy crap already. I would always play around the complex (which was relatively small and very ghetto), walking between buildings and going to the lot of rubble two buildings south of ours, just down the driveway. That lot of rubble just so happened to be the remains of a building like the one I was living in (a two apartment little duplex thing) after most of the debris was removed after an explosion from some ten years back. I didn't know anything about it at the time, but it was a cool place to play and kick crap around when I was alone. Not long after living in that the condo, my mother and I started noticing some unexplainably eerie things going on, like walking into the bathroom to see the hair dryer was just sitting on and blowing with nobody in the room, or occasionally hearing my tape recorder start playing at the bottom of my toy chest in the middle of the night when we were asleep (which would wake up my mom, not me, as I was an INCREDIBLY deep sleeper. I mean, I slept through firecrackers in the back of a pickup truck followed by two fire trucks coming into the complex and hosing it out right next to our building). One night I had my grandma's dog over to stay and it was at the end of my bed on the floor sniffing around, and I noticed a huge shapely shadow on my wall. I noticed it because it had a distinct shape, wavy lines, I remember it being kinda like a wierd less asymetrical blocky pyramid shape, like a human with freaky wavy hair. It was dead still on my wall, so I assumed it was coming from something in my window, blocking the moonlight coming in. I looked around casually and noticed first that my dog was well away from the window so it was not causing the shadow. Next I saw my lamp, which was not shaped like a wavy pyramid, then I noticed the freakiest thing of all, that the tree was moving outside my window, which was making the light come in choppy and move around, but the shadow was absolutely static. Once confirming that there was absolutely nothing in my room that could be creating this shadow, I immediately started to freak out. I just stared at it for a little while, then I climbed out of my bed, went to the door, and looked back. It was still there. The dog followed me out of the door and to my mom's room, where I woke her up and brought her back. Amazingly enough, after all that, the shadow disappeared. I drew what I'd seen for mom on the table the next morning and gave her the picture, and then, according to her recollection, I told her it had spoken to me. I can't say I remember that happening, but she would remember better than I would at my age. The rest of this information she did not share with me until years later...
Mom, paranoid and a little panicked about a ghost talking to me in my room, decided to go to the local library and check out the archives for information about our complex. She found a news article from some years back about that explosion, and found out that there had been only one death out of all of the injured people, that being the mother of a baby boy, who had died at the hospital immediately after being admitted. She had apparently left her child in her own condo (the one that backed up to this one) and gone to a party next door where someone had left the gas on in the oven. The explosion leveled a large part of the complex and it had to be demolished, and it would not be surprising if she died without knowing whether or not her child was safe. The child was removed by the state and delivered, I believe, into foster care (I believe she was the only guardian). Mom found a picture of the woman and low and behold, the same wavy curls I'd laid out on the page. She went home that night and went into my room, told the woman her son was alright, and to leave me alone. I never saw her again after that, but we didn't live there much longer, and mom put a cross on my door as a protective measure.
What I saw was real, I remember it well enough to know I analyzed what was going on at the time to make sure nothing in my room was possibly making the shadow, and I checked again before I got mom. It genuinly made me eerie although it didn't necessarily 'frighten' me, and I never saw it again. I've seen little things since then, figures I can make out in the dark sometimes, creepy things I can't explain away with common sense, but never anything that close to me. If it really WAS just a random show, what an awkward coincidence that I'd draw a picture of a woman with wavy hair, that just so happened to look similar to the woman that died in an explosion two buildings over. Maybe she was looking for her son and found me? Who knows. All I know is it was freakolicious.
