Does anyone knows a nifty software to create backups? With the following specifications:

- Able to save on FTP/Network, Externals & HDD itself.
- Able to compress the total size.
- Should be able to open the files on another PC with ease.
- And of course, restore function.

And I'm looking for a free one, rather than a shareware or trial.

Try looking into CloneZilla, that's the only thing I can think of with anywhere near the specifications you require that is actually free.

Like I said, what you want is CloneZilla (and obviously a storage medium).

CloneZilla is a Linux LiveCD designed for backing things up, and it requires zero skills, so even Skyrider can pull it off. *snicker*

Honestly when I was backing all my data up, all I was doing was just burning it all to a CD using whatever Windows uses to burn data onto discs. :p

Yea thats backing up. Not creating a snapshot backuop. You only backed up your data, not your registry data.

That, or get a server OR an external hard drive, and use CloneZilla, which rocks the socks off of anything Microsoft ever made.
