@zed: I don't know about the bots... since i've never downloaded any. If it involves adding anything to the HL directory or ESF directory, it probably will work. You just might have to do it manually though, since the installer will automaically look for the Sierra directory.

So, if anyone that has the bots figured out for Steam, please post a "how-to" in here.

Thanks
i tried that already, it still doesn't work it just hangs when you create the game

you can still create servers.

the only thing bugging me is it decides by itself when to work, like, right now it aint gonna launch, so i'll blame its that the servers down.

If you manage to get esf to work but cant configure your controls
then this will probably work

make a userconfig.cfg file place it in your (steam) esf folder ,
now copy your old (non steam) config.cfg into the new
userconfig.cfg when you start your game your controls should work !

it worked for me

It's all the same thing! The only thing different are the first 2-3 folders you have to get into.

READ this, cause i'm only going to post it once.

Program Files > Steam > SteamApps > Your e-mail address > Half-Life > ESF (or any other mod you wanna add models or whatever into)

From there, it's exactly the same as before. It's not too hard people, just stop asking people to baby feed you. Look, if you can't find it. Read more before you ask a question. I'm sure most of all your questions have been answered. All it takes is for you to READ. :)

Good luck

Heh..... monthly subscription? To play CS (which they have butchered in 1.6 by the way). I don't think so, there is no way I'm going to pay a monthly subscription. Valve can.... well, you know.

Steam is completley unnecessary, Won served CS just fine. I don't know where they got the idea that people are actually going to PAY to play a game that we've all been playing for so long. Especially after they butchered it as they did. Any CS fan knows what I'm talking about.

I haven't tried it yet(staying on 1.5 as long as i possibly can), but after my friends mentioned the subscription... I think I'm done. Everyone is going to be playing Halo anyhow.

About that monthly subcribtion. You can use steam all you want with a valid cd-key. When you subscribe for somthing around $9.99 a month you can get all the games that come out for it. I'll start naming them off I guess, Half-Life,Half-Life2,TeamFortress2,Counter-Stike:CZ, and what ever they think of realeasing. If you play on a valid Cd-Key then you only get Half-Life and its mods. Hope that clears up some things.

P.S. This is what the FAQ said- "Is Steam really free?

Yes, Steam is really free.
Steam also provides access to several free products and services, like the dedicated game server, instant messaging, the game server browser, etc.

And if you've already bought Half-Life or one of the other Half-Life family of games, several add-ons are available via Steam for no extra cost.

After installing Steam, check your "Games" list to see what's available."

LOL Steam is only montthly if you subscribe for more exclusives (new VALVe product news,HL2 demo, new MODs,etc)

BTW,Sky you sure you have a valid HL CD-Key,if you do have 1 I suggest you post in the Steam support forums(which is littered with 'I hate Steam' comments btw)

You have to start up Half-Life so it can create a folder. So just go into games, load Half-Life, then quit and go back to the folder, it should be there. :)

For models, yup.

Counter-Strike > cstrike > models
