Esf Always Crashes!

I keep on trying to play ESF, but the stupid thing just crashed when I try to start a new game, what on this planet should I do?

1. does it gives any error?
2. try to reinstall esf?
3. try to reinstall half-life. update it to 1.1.1.0 and then install esf beta 1.0 again

You can't just "disable" software mode

Switch the rendering mode to OpenGL or D3D

really i have a geforce 4 with an 1.6ghz comp and when i switch it to direct3d it has like graphics all over it and etc cant explain but you can see multiple textures and graphics all blurred u cant see infront of you ... maybe its the frame rate... how do i adjust it or fix it?

Well, OpenGL is more of a higher quality videeo mode(obviously) and some video cards do not go with it well, if D3d doesnt work or OpenGL...then you should just get a new card if you wanna play esf badly lol

But D3d has less textures then OpenGL, so I think...

It doesn't come on with any errors, and I've tried doing it a few times, I've got Counter Strike ( not half life). And it crashes after a few seconds.

And how on earth do you get to all of those things? IE: rendering mode to OpenGL or D3D?

try OpenGL ... it's much better then D3D

that's my opinion ... but I think more than half here prefer OpenGL before D3D ...

try both ... and report again ...

I still have no idea how you open that. But when I open up to play an internet game, it comes up that my esf is out of date.

If it says ESF is out of date, then update HL to version 1.1.1.0

errrmmmm....he doesn't know how to switch to OpenGL....

When in the main menu,go to options>video>video modes and click on OpenGL tab

It wasn't anything to do with the GL stuff. My friend came over and loaded something. Everything works great except for one problem. When I play with bots, it kicks me totally off of my game when I am fighting extrememly violently.
Any way to stop that from happening?

what did ur frend load??? i have the same problem and i dont want to download the hl updade bcos its 82 megs and ive only got a 56k moden sopits gonne take a few years to get it!!!!

You have to download the hl 1.1.1.0 update for it to work. If you do not have the update you will not be able to play. If you can not get it on your connection ask a friend who has a good connection to burn it onto a cd for you.
