Are there any error messages that come up. If there are, it will be easier for people to answer the question if you put them up. The games should still be makingable/connectable even with software mode on, although OpenGL and Direct3d or better modes

Well, a bad code may have been added somehow, try uninstalling then installing halflife again and re-downloading esf 1.1

I get random crashes ALL THE TIME too. Mostly happens on larger servers, but it happens on small servers sometimes too. The thing that pisses me off most about it is there is no error message, no code, no nothing, just a fast crash to the desktop. I am in open gl, 512 DDR RAM, no other programs running. I scanned my HD for errors, nothing. I even reinstalled HL, then ESF, still borked. I then REFORMATTED, reinstalled, STILL BORKED. ESF is the only game that does this for me.

BTW, I even tried playing the game with all graphic options turned off, MP3 player off, no go. I have an XP 1700, GF 3 Ti 200, 521 MB of RAM, 60 GB HD, Audigy 1. Unless there is some kind of wierd compatibility issue I am having with 1.1, I am completely lost here. 1.0 never crashed like this.

Shenlon? What is your sound card? I have the same problem but I get a long beep from my card when it freezes.

If your sound card is playing up, try changing it from "full acceleration" to "basic acceleration" in the dxdiag (go to run and type dxdiag" area

Well, you can always try downloading your most recent sound card drivers, although i doubt that thats the problem. Download your most recent
Chipset Driver
Video Card Driver
Sound Card Driver
Direct x 9 (or whatever the most recent one is)

If that doesnt work, then it might be your pc. Does this effect any of your other games?

What about other mods like counter-strike or natural selection etc... Does it disconnect you from those games too? If so, its probably your halflife game. If not, then its probably your esf game. Just try redownloading the FULL version of the new 1.1

Like I said, no other games do this. CS, DoD, NS, Firearms, Vampire Slayer, none of these crash. ESF 1.0 didn't crash as much as this. Ah well, guess I'll just have to wait for 1.2....
