ECX RC1, RC2 and Big Pack Problem?

Hi,

I've been playing ESF for quite some time now and recently installed RC1 and 2.
Didn't have much to test it out because I soon after discovered about Big Pack. So I installed that also right away.

Now, Whenever i'm creating a game by myself to play against bots.
After a few minutes (maybe 15min, somtimes more) I either get framedrops (or it looks like it) and crashes... Well actually it freezes up and does nothing... (I call it a crash anyway.)

I don't know if it's related to ECX and Big Pack or if that happened in ESF also.
But I was wondering if there is something I can do about this.

My system is:
AMD Dual Core 6000+
4GB DDR2 800mhz RAM
ATI RADEON 4870X2 2GB GDDR5
500GB HDD 7200RPM

(PS: I don't seem to get any error messages, or at least not that I've seen popping up.)

dont use bots with ecx there non compatable

Well bots and beams dont mix.

Youd do well to make the bots use melee and you yourself use melee. Cause bots mostly crash the game if you kill them with a beam.

Allso set your video mode to open GL.

And a question. Are you using STEAM?

Yes I'm Using steam, when i start the game it automatically does using steam.?

If you have it installed under STEAM then yes.

In any case as said try to set the bots to use melee only. As they are very unstable in a combination with beams.

I figured out it's probably not related to bots.
Sometimes it just hangs on and I can kill bots with whatever beam I want.
It's probably some random crashing...
Allthough it mostly happens around transforming... I'm now trying to figure out if its bigpack related. So I deleted everything and installed it back without big pack. Ill report on this later. In the meanwhile can someone help me with this?
I'd appreciate it very much since I like the mod!

Well, Big Pack didn't change much... It's still happening.

Say how did you install everything?

Can you write it up step by step?

Easy

Yeah sure, whatever that could fix this.

1) I close down steam.
2) I install ESF 1.2.3 (Most of it is just clicking next)
3) I install ECX RC1 (Also clicking next all the time)
4) I install ECX RC2 (Also clicking next all the time)
5) I install Big Pack 8.4 (Direct it to the half-life/esf folder)

6) I start the game, adjust all my controls, put video on OpenGL or D3D wich doesn't change anything about the freezing and closing down to main menu)
7) I start a local game server (Create Game) on Free Fighting or Teamplay
8) I start fighting bots, or humans...
9) I raise powerlevel, powerup, shoot beams, do melee, transform, and all of that.
10) Game either freezes (forcing me to close it using the processes tab on CTRL+ALT+DEL) or the game suddenly returns to the main menu without warning. Both of these things don't come with any error messages what-so-ever (also not on the background)

theres your problem number 3 dont install rc1 only rc2 there conflicting with eachother

Really!? Oh! I thought RC2 was just another expansion expanding what RC1 allready had. But if that's not the case that means RC2 must have everything RC1 has. But it's only around 20MB's bigger. Can you explain me that? But I will do as you say. I hope it works

Both RC1 and RC2 are full installers.

RC2 only has some new code (mostly bug fixes) and 1 new character and the ability to import CCI characters.

You were right... It did solve a lot! I have way less problems now.
I haven't had any freezing and I can do with bots whatever I want.
But I did get dropped back to the menu once.
So I hope that doesn't happen again.

Can it be because of the Powerlevel plugin?

Nah thats the ESF-world and corona-bytes forums taboo.
