Each and everyday you out class yourself in your ignorance.
Rap is another music genre. Niether for high, middle or low class. It all depends on your personal opinion. I like rap, that doesn't rate what class I'm in.
Nobody will ever settle the differences between rap and rock, you either like one, like the other, like both or like niether. Flaming other people for their particular tastes is not the way to show how much you like your particular genre.
Saying what you like about music is better than saying what you don't like about it.

And before you reply to this and decide to call me A.D.D and threaten to mute me, Just mute me and keep your mouth shut.
I agree, nice reply.

Just keep your opinion to yourself guys, you either like rap or don't like rap, you don't have to bash it, if you feel so necassery to bash it, go to a different forum, don't do it here.

i didnt bash it i merely stated facts of google and teen magazines. its not my opinion its facts. i could care less ^_^
rofl dudes i dont hate rape its ok to go boom boom sppsh and rhyme and be like ooooooh burn oooooo aaaaah weeeee monkey flop... eer ya what ever im high n drunk and going insane. weed n alchohal for 2 days straight is a nice priveledge in life yep yep.

hey i said i like busta rhymes and ludacris doesnt imply i hate rap or bash it, and hey; i dont totally agree with what the socialists and society community people thingy of life physco analysis people think with class rating people...

i dont rate people by their music taste/lusts.

to test a mans true character give him power, or to find their true personality aka soul you must first be a good judge of character and be a nice happy person. like i know rocky means well but seems like a rude n crude dude but he just puts on that act because he truely loves me and doesnt want to see me get bashed for my ideals and opinions

* i wuver you to dude rofl * :p

now lets get back on topic and see whos right, the teen magazine or either our own personal beings of who listens to rap. because i'll be d*mned; if some doc guy says im apart of the middle class because i listen to a certain or no genre of music aka raggae'd techno started by some crazy guy in jamaca ya mon ^_^

wellp im out, peace n love as vash da stampede says :p

Do you believe everything a teen magazine writes?

I agree with Rocky, it's what you prefer, it says nothing about anyone. Teen magazines will write everything to get people's attention, it's their job to entertain people, so they can sell..

Teen Magazines are biased. They speak as to what the majority or the fashion says. Most Teen Magazines are like sheep following a majority or fashion.

I mean really, ft rap sucks so much, as much people claim, then how come that everytime I look at a Top 10 Hit Charts of America, 8 out of 10 songs are Rap Songs? Or how come they are still making rap music at all, and actually earn money with it?

hehe well according to the research on teen magazine or google.com in general the docs say rap lives on and makes money for the creators only because they have signed contracts with tv shows and doing projects like community wise to get extra money. plus going to parties and playing music that no one likes but every one already bought tickets thus those tickets add up and is percented to the performers... like no one dances during the rap but they go insane when rock or ozzy is on or linkin park and people rip off shirts and boobies fly mmm boobies... but um any wayz rofl..

some of the docs reasoning is factual and could be some what true thats why i read em to see wtf is up its quite hilarious. plus i got hooked on em cuz my cousins and sister read em, not as so much as fashion or that crap i read like the science part of things.

top songs on america are rap? naaah... and their basing that on mtv site and only people with no life post their votes on the site for who they like and im sure they do double post to get it up there. evil nerdy kids can change ip with firewall router and do like 15 post for their band they like to get on the top charts :p polls never work dude aka bush winning? rofl...

I LIKE ROCK OR ANYTHING WITH GUITAR N DRUMS AND BE LIKE BLAAARG ON MIC! <--- to stay on topic :p

Be careful. Dont confuse rap and hip hop. Run DMC was Hip Hop. It will usually work like this: Metal/Rock fans usually wont like rap/hip hop, and most rap/hip hop fans wont usually like metal. I'm pretty sure Rock is liked everywhere. Rap and Hip hop are two different things though, its like Rock and metal are two different genres. Hip hop you can tell from Rap by the beat, as you can tell Rock from Metal when there's no rough sounding voice shouting. People prefer rock or rap depending on what youre into. If your more into lyrics, then you will usually listen to rap/hip-hop. If youre more into a good sounding tune, with nice guitar solo's and acapellas, then you will usually listen to Rock. I myself like pretty much everything except Metal and most forms of World Music. If i had the choice of Rock and Rap, i would choose based on the artist and song, rather than the genre.

lol you really dont understand how dumb & ignorant you seem to sound right now following a teen magazine and some research from a bunch of biased websites to rap that anyone can find. The teen magazine minus well just say everyone's mom & dad lack good parenting, and you would probally follow that trend as well right?? You have your oppion on rap, leave it at that.

And maybe if people stop quoting him, than maybe he would stop posting all of this useless nonsense due to his love of rock music and the trend of bashing rap.

ONtopic: Yea i do like rap music.

Hiphop and rap are not different genres. Rap is a part of hiphop, just like metal is a part of rock. oO

most rappers are about as gangster as a rabbi....which traditionally is not THAT gangster at all. its all about some BS image that some record producer slaps on some hoodlum with a speech impediment, and they make some generic lil john beat and he incoherently babbles to the beat, sometimes inventing his own words, even. especially when he cant think of real words that rhym. i do like the beastie boys!

You know what I usually see in these kind of threads?

Media controlled opinions, proving people don't take the time to read between the lines, to realize the messages some rappers are trying to get into public view. You can only blame the business side, the producers of rap music, for this problem. They feel that the gangsta (death threats, and glock metaphors) and industry (booty shakin', repetitively radio broadcasted) genres of rap are the only thing that will sale. While Underground rap (my favorite genre) preaches about political injustice, police brutality and corruption, and basically what is wrong with society today.

I'm sure you might have have heard a few of the well known artists like Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli.

You'll find not one single curse word in their music, completely understand their basis, and will possibly even reflect for a moment once the song is over. I believe rap is a way to express yourself in a catchy and rhythmic fashion, the rhythm the song radiates, becoming the "cool" and "ambiently catching" factor that makes you want to listen in the first place.

The fact is, industry and gangsta rap gets all the better funded music production, while underground (where the original point of hip-hop is still a factor) is left struggling to produce, in the shadow of a manipulating beast, happily fed by cash cows like P. Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, and Dr.Dre.

Like I've said many times before...

"Rap has different genres, and you can't argue this point, then turn around and say that Rock has different genres."

Finally, I recommend this Common - I used to love H.E.R, it's bascially a song about the transformation of rap, from people expressing their problems to this ironical money, power, and respect game of twisted hear say.

I love Gorillaz too, but unfortunately, they dont rap my good friend :/. Thats Del Tha Funky Homosapien, and he only performs in two of their songs : Clint Eastwood, and Rock The House. Its always been a puzzle to me as to what genre Gorillaz could be put in :O Same with Daft Punk. Does the disco genre still exist? Then if so....JAMIROQUAI :D

technically rap cant really be considdered music: as it has no melody.

it has rythmic, sometimes not rythmic talking, at faster than normal speeds, and usually tells some sort of story, so it should be considdered more of a narrative than a song on that front.

there is usually no melody in the bass line, its just there to keep a beat.

same with the drums (yes you can have drum melody's)

therefor in my oppinion, rap is not music.

thats just my oppinion as someone who plays violin in an orchestra, teaches guitar, plays guitar in a metal band, and also plays drums in his spare time....

anyway, not to post off topic: music or not, there are one or two tracks that i find humorous and will listen to if i have nothing better to do...

I've heard rappers keep perfect rhythm with Beethoven, rap is to music, like trance is to music. Synthesized expressionism. I've noticed their simularities and the fact that Lil Jon has incorporated the basics of it in many of his latest songs. Listen to one Talib Kweli and Mos Def song, and you'll see the same lyrical intensity most rock artists bring. There's less than a handful of genres to rap, but one stands above the rest in my opinion.

Underground.

Rap is not among the stuff I listen to...mainly because I consider it more of a literary kind of thing than a musical kind of thing. Even then, rap and I don't tend to mix.
