Some rap is good, some isnt. I dont listen to it often, but i do listen to it. I chose yes.

i only listen to that which is really considered music, and that is; anything with a guitar and drums.

tool, nin, pantera, slipknot, slayer, dying fetus, nile, celldweller to name a few.

- linkin park's style of music like techno with guitar = gg imho gets da nice sweet party sexy white girls like crazy

but rap with dumb lyrics and boom boom sppsh crap over and over is boring and mostly consisting of black people and white trash like marshall slim shady whom have messed up lives with drugs, but hey same can be said for rock stars, but like ozzy they get help and clean them selves up. rappers dont because they think its "cool" to shoot people and say nigg@ nigg@ over and over like a chain saw.

well thats my opinion and im sticking to it. ^_^

and i seriously hope rap dies because its only the slang word of rape, since thats what mostly the black guys do to the whores on their music videos.

now some jamacan raggae -we be jammin mon- type of music is way better black music then rap. has a higher class standing as well, and the poor people need to become aware of this if they truely want moo laa money "bling bling". because rap will not get u there solely alone, for example ludacris's bling bling comes from his other companies not just from rap, although he is pretty hilarious like busta rymes (them two are the only cool rappers to me).

uh, well i don't wanna start a flaming post but you have to understand its OPINIONS! its all based on your opinion on if you like something or not. you do or don't some people do others dont just because you like it doesn't mean it should die. because other people DO like it. to them its good music and pwns rock any day. I on the other hand think the opposite. i have many friends that think rock sucks and rap kicks ass. and i have heard many rap songs with guitar in it, drums, even a bass (of course) exluding pod, linking park and beastie boys

i listen to rap and many other genres of music. throughout my listening i have found that in every genre of music there is, in fact, good music. to say that *insert any music genre* is crap is completely absurd. its just opinions from people that havent taken the time to listen to anything good.

if youre basing your judgement on the radio, your opinion shouldnt really count. POP music gets on the radio, not good music. whatever lots of people find to be popular at the moment is what is continually played over and over and over...and over.

it saddens me everytime someone makes a "rap thread" and people dish out stereotypes and prejudice comments about stuff that they really dont know about(black people and white trash? wtf?). im not going to sit here and prove to you that there is good music in the rap genre, im just saying that you should know your **** before you try and evaluate it.

and if im correct... rap is the hottest thing out since pants with pockets. it beats the breaks off of all other genres. everybody is biting off of rap and hip hops stuff. ugh, im tired and i lost my train of thought.

rap is for the lower class poor class... not middle or rich right...
thats why to you it seems that its popular and hot and gets rappers like ludacris bling bling... but it doesnt, most people will just steal the cds from stores or internet.

thats why they have other companies and contract signing doing shows for like mtv to get that extra umph to their bling bling pocket money...

anywho... rock n roll was first and has been around longer and has more experience in its "pocket" to make some kool songs.
rap is somewhat newer but there is like 2 classes in rap the middle class and the poor class... which music's differ like for the middle class there is barely any cussin or songs about bustin a cap in some ones ass... like busta rhymes and ludacris could be implied to the middle class. and 2pac for example was for the poor class...

sure had some ok songs/beats but its not about a beat of boom boom sppshh crap... its about lyrics as well and talking about killing east side west side north side upper side of earth and the lower side of the western hemispheric life forms of alah or some crap is just boring no one wants to hear about how poor people have hard lives and kill people with their "silly with my nine milly" crap.

rock n roll sings about energy and getting ya head to rock, prodigy fire starter for example or walk the mind fields feel your head rock. just so bad ass make u wanna get up and do a back flip. rap never make ya feel that energetic or happy its always sad and killing and trying to be a "hard ass" for socialistic society reasons.

well hope this clears up some pondering on why rock n roll ownz rape. and yes thats what rap is it is a play off the word rape do research on google.com... peace im out to go listen to some rock n roll right now

Rap is another music genre. Niether for high, middle or low class. It all depends on your personal opinion. I like rap, that doesn't rate what class I'm in.
Nobody will ever settle the differences between rap and rock, you either like one, like the other, like both or like niether. Flaming other people for their particular tastes is not the way to show how much you like your particular genre.
Saying what you like about music is better than saying what you don't like about it.
