Parents seldomly do the same thing for two children or more.
Incidentally, my family's the same way, Optimus. My brother's an unemployed stoner who's in his sixth year of high school.
There are only two things to fault--the parents, first and foremost, and secondly, the will power of the person involved. My history isn't as nice as people might think; my father's an alcoholic and a fairly consistent drug user. He's at the point where he can barely understand what day of the week it is, he's so burnt out. We argue all the time; he just starts making up facts out of the blue (that a hot toaster oven top can ignite a metal tray and burn a house down, for instance...when the metal tray goes IN the toaster, incidentally) to help facilitate his arguments. My mother doesn't even hear me frigging talk, sometimes; good woman, but I always say the payroll department at the bank she works at is more of a mother to me than she was. See, I have these cousins, and they all have ****ed up lives, cause their mother ran out on them suddenly and their father was a total tool. My mother has been nurturing these cousins their whole lives...so I've been watching very carefully what a good mother she is to her two nieces and nephew, and getting to compare it with who she was to me. The difference?
She KNOWS them. She does NOT know me.
The parents of kids like the columbine kids did not know them. I mean, here's the bottom line right here people:
Whether GTA3 or some anime makes kids decide to become violent psychopaths, it is irrelevent--neither such thing nor any other similar form of media would find its way to a child that has good parents who know them and care what goes on in their lives.
And whether a game made Klebold and Harris shoot up Columbine or not, the fact remains that the kids were building bombs and hoarding firearms and the parents could have prevented it completely if they had just paid some god damned attention.
Hence my point--the parents are fully to blame, I think, because it funnels down to them. "GTA made me do it"--well who's the idiot parent that gave your unemployed ass the 50 bucks for that game? Who let you frigging play it without even asking what it was about? Even then, in this case the kids were already frigging gone. The idea of getting a gun and killing people is something that has been around since the gun was INVENTED. They didn't get the idea from some video game...the video game got its basis from the idea.
A.) There should be no guns. We as civilians have no need of them. If there are, they should only be registered to people over the age of 25, after they pass detailed inspection. PERIOD.
or B.) PARENTS SHOULD NOTICE WHEN THEIR CHILDREN ARE PLOTTING TO MURDER PEOPLE WITH AUTOMATIC WEAPONS.
Better yet, he's B2.)
IF YOUR KID IS ACTING LIKE A ****ING NUTJOB, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KEEP A GOD DAMNED EYE ON HIM NEXT TIME.
I mean...let's face it, guys...in EVERY case...the parents had the power. And in EVERY case...statistically speaking...the parents say things like, "We never knew" or "we had no idea."
Well...pay attention, and you might have a clue next time.
