You should see it live . . . all five digits are doing something on the fret board . . .SaiyanPrideXIX said:I almost forget the Mustaine action. That guy is SICK. Tornado of Souls = "holy ****, how is he playing that!?" The ****er's hand barely moves...
Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets album both have just meaningless solos in my opinion. They just seem like they are trying to show off, rather then blend it well. I'm not going to argue you anymore, so whatever, they may have some well blended solos, but for the most part they are bad. Songs like: Fight fire with fire, and trapped under ice just aren't well thought out.Silent_Bob said:Not true, the solo in Sanitarium blends quite well, as does the intro solo for One, and Fade to Black, and many others for that matter.
Some of my favourites are:
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing(the ending one)
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters(not terribly skillful, but it blends so well)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Metallica - Master of Puppets(the middle solo, where the slow melody is playing with no distortion)
The Knack - My Sharona(man that guitarwork is so crazy compared to the rest of the song, and it's a damn good solo on it's own as well)
The song by The Darkness, Love Is Only a Feeling isn't too bad either, nice rythm and good guitar work(I like teh tapping, it sounds real funky)
This is why I hate discussing music. You are automatically substituting my opinion with your own because you assume that you are right, when in reality you cannot judge these sort of things against one another.owa said:Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets album both have just meaningless solos in my opinion. Also, to Cuc: I'd hardly call the Anestesia bass solo the best ever, it is rather easy to do, and uses alot of effects. The song "I play bass" or "I play bass guitar" or some name like that is alot better.
I never said my opinion or judgement was better, I just argued why I felt it was not the best solo. I am just giving my opinion on the music, I was not trying to over throw others opinions, I am sorry if it seemed that way.Cucumba said:This is why I hate discussing music. Anesthesia (pulling teeth) happens to be one of my favorites, and that is my opinion . . . you judgement does not supercede mine, as mine does not supercede yours. There are lots of arguments both ways, and there are no reasons to state that someone elses opinion is invalid when you can just state that you liked yours better.
Further, there is no proof that any one of these is better than the other. Argue all you like, it's essentially pointless to argue asthetics. You and Abe Froman are both using a different standard, a different ruler if you will. At least he recognized that in his post while taking a jab at my tastes.
ive heard it but i still dont think it matches up to malmsteen.DaRkOwNs said:you guys are nuts the best solo ever made and im backed up by the international music corporation is the solo to mr. crowley made by rhandy rhoads
hah no you havent in all the books and on the internet everybody does all they can to make it easier and besides speed doesnt make a good solo tone quality and style does i havent even looked at that malmsteens solo yet and i know its just gonna be a solo where hes just shredding the hell out of his guitar not really caring if it sounds good just tries to make it impressively fast and not to mention randy rhoads solos were good because he didnt constantly use a series of pentatonic scales he combined the minor pentatonics with the major scales most just use pentatonicdarkowns take a look at malmsteens tabs .
I just looked at mr. crowley tabs, looks like a basic shreding solo tab to me, not to too different to van halen
Just stop, It all depends on what people like, you like this, they like that. Get over it and stop trying to make them think like you. They think for themselves. They like what they like your not going to change that. Arguing about it won't change anything either. This thread was going great until you showed up and started trying to change the way people view music. If someone likes a fast solo then they like a fast solo, if someone likes a slow long solo then they like a slow song solo. Some people like the "sound" of the solo while you apparently like the notes of one. (from what i read) Audio Slave Highway i beleive is the name i'm too lazy to go find out. The solo is only one string. But he uses so many foot pedals, each sound is different. Some people love that. Others can't stand it. It's thier opinionDaRkOwNs said:hah no you havent in all the books and on the internet everybody does all they can to make it easier and besides speed doesnt make a good solo tone quality and style does i havent even looked at that malmsteens solo yet and i know its just gonna be a solo where hes just shredding the hell out of his guitar not really caring if it sounds good just tries to make it impressively fast and not to mention randy rhoads solos were good because he didnt constantly use a series of pentatonic scales he combined the minor pentatonics with the major scales most just use pentatonic
and the only thing detuning does really is make the strings easier to pluck and push down it doesnt cheat in any way infact i tune down alot when im making a song
