Ok people, I need to find out how many guitar nuts there are in these forums so I don't feel so lonesome. Even if you're not a guitar nut and just listen to good guitar music, have a say.

I hate guitar fanatics. But my favorite solo to play is Ride The Lightning.

Are you kidding? People, metallica pulls out crazy solos. Any solo by metallica is considered one of the best in my opinion.

Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (Live Version, 10 minute solo)
Pink Floyd - Time
Tool - Parabola
Pearl Jam - Porch
Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
Neil Young - Keep on Rockin' in the Freeworld

---

For me, a solo is good when it goes with song. Iron Maiden do this best, they always blend well with the song. Unlike Metallica or Slayer where they just shred and solo it out for logn periods with just high note after high note.

The all time pwnage solo goes to Cliff Burton: Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)

Not true, the solo in Sanitarium blends quite well, as does the intro solo for One, and Fade to Black, and many others for that matter.

Some of my favourites are:
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing(the ending one)
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters(not terribly skillful, but it blends so well)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Metallica - Master of Puppets(the middle solo, where the slow melody is playing with no distortion)
The Knack - My Sharona(man that guitarwork is so crazy compared to the rest of the song, and it's a damn good solo on it's own as well)

The song by The Darkness, Love Is Only a Feeling isn't too bad either, nice rythm and good guitar work(I like teh tapping, it sounds real funky)

Either:

AC/DC - Thunderstruck, really short, but absolutely disgusting, short clip of it here ( http://anime-overload.com/files/thunderstruck_clip.zip )

Angus is so underrated. :|

OR

Guns 'N Roses - Civil War (there's a few solos in the song)

I also like Zakk Wylde's solo from the Ozzy Osbourne - Gets Me Through video.

I almost forget the Mustaine action. That guy is SICK. Tornado of Souls = "holy ****, how is he playing that!?" The ****er's hand barely moves...
