I 'm not sure if this wasn't suggested before, but I'll say it anyways...
Wouldn't it be cool if beams reflect in water?
And when in a dark place, firin' a beam and it shines?
I mean as an example, it's dark all over the place (couse of weather or w/e) and you make a spirit bomb. That spirit bomb shines like a **** and you see all of teh place

The beam doesnt reflect on the waters surface. Then again nothing can reflect on a disturbed water surface ^^

Actually,if it's not too disturbed, it can a little, barely.
What about a lake then? :)

A light source reflection is kinda different than a normal reflection in water. But if the water is to disturbed even thats not reflecting to well.

Besides the only thing that can actually cause a light source is the beam head and beam start. Not the trail itself.

I guess it's not that important after all. Hell, who will notice that in a fight anyway since ESF is so fast-paced?

We could probably make them do damage, but that would be a royal coding pain in the but. Especially since beams are not straight. In a PS i think it would be quite easy to have a dalage line along the straight beam, but curved beams are a different story.

I can live with that. :)

Coding collision with the beamtrail shouldnt be difficult, but it would take a bit of processing since theres so many segments. One could average out some of the segments to reduce the overall calculation, but then there would be moments of iffy collision. I would love the trails to do damage, as it seems silly that a deluge of energy rushing through the air is only harmful at the very tip of it, but i dont like the chances of the collision detection being efficient. Like Grega said, curved beams makes it a royal pain. What would be interesting though, is if a player collides with the beamstart flare, they take damage and get repelled away.

Yeah, that'll be nice too.
As if you charge against the dude and he fires a kameha straight to you and you get pwnt and the beam continues to pwn onwards
That's what always happens in the anime  Tho, I think there should be a limit of this. Having some beam flying across a HUGE map would be kind of dumb. There are like 16 players, the beam goes onward (and most of 'em by some chance stand in a line) and poof
