The models in Esf should be battle damaged if they got damage because it would look cool if blood comes out of their moouth or their dress is damaged.

Or what do u think about it?

It can be done in HL. How do you think they change the normal model to a transform model?

And as far as downloading goes, mods have never been forgiving to dial up users, get cable/dsl or get over it. I remember my 56k days(shudder), don't begrudge us a better game because of YOUR bandwidth limitations. NEENER!!

But I love you ;)

why do you need battle damage models?

and what Ghoststalker meant was that they would have to make more models of each character for the battle damage, they can't just have it be a progressive thing with the one model in hl

This has been posted about 543297643216543654324321087543076541432075445432543 times and counting. There really is a search button you can use to find each one of those old threads. The general consensus is that it would be A.) Impossible for the half life engine, B.) A rediculous amount of work for the team, and C.) Way too much strain on the servers.

it's possible to do it with HL, but you would ahve to have more models per charater.

e.g.
1. Goku
2. lightly damaged goku,
3. heavly damaged goku,
4. ssj Goku
5. lightly damaged ssj goku
6. heavly damaged goku.

making esf that much bigger. 20 Mb bigger is my guess.

I personally wouldn't mind, but i do not consider it a priority at all.

other things need to be done of more importance

You guys it is possible in the sence that yes you can do it. It is impossble in the sence that think of all the work it would take to make all those models and code that, all the lag it would cause, and it is just pointless anyway. It is not needed in the game.

HOLY HELL NO!!!

thats 4x more models do u realize how much work that would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good god the animaters and modelers would have a heart attack if they were to do all that

not to mention when the model changes it causes lag on a server so having models constantly switch back and forth would just cause mass ammounts of lag

I don't think the modellers are going to make 3 times more models as there're now ... because .. if there'll come 2nd tranformations ... eh 3 more models for every char ???

LMAO @ Zealous

Battle damage is overrated, who cares if you can see how much youve beaten the s*** out of someone...not worth it.

i like KamakaziChicken plan it wouldn't take much long to work on it. if you have the main model just get and extra skinner to skin it it is not as if they must make more models. For the coding, yea i think it is hard though

Uhh...why are you all going on about models? Use decals...duh...decals of patches of skin with scrapes. Not that you ever get close enough to anyone to see these anyway.

Although if you were going to do it, I'd say decals. Then you could have custom ones for all the characters based on the colors of their clothing, and then have like a big stupid pink dent for Buu, etc. And these would still apply to the second transforms for the most part, too.

Sheesh. Battle bamaging models in real time? What kind of drugs do people around here take...? lol

If you were going to add some battle damaged skins, you might as well make them selectable from the start. Getting hit causing your shirt to tear in 7 places and blood to come out of your arms and legs just wouldn't make sense. I say *yes* to battle damaged selectable models, and a big ol' *no* to real time. If you think you can code it in and make it lagless, do it, then show it to the team and tell them how it's done. Otherwise just drop it...

The battle damage would be useless. If you are using beams you would probably experience the 'wonders' of the battle damage for about 10 seconds before the map gets nuked. And if you were melee fighting, most of the time you are either too busy watching your radar or the opponent to even pay attention to what your character looks like. Not to mention that most of the time you are swooping so you wouldnt be able to tell the difference anyway.

I agree that putting it in would be a waste of time and would probably make the game worse than better (lag issues).

As to battle damage not being worth it because no one will notice: don't be ridiculous!
Look at Goku when he fires a Kamehameha: his hair is blown back by the force of the blast. Is that something you really notice while playing? Probably not, but it's in there because it makes the experience more enjoyable.

Battle damage would add to the experience of playing ESF. However.. it would cause lag. That's the part that really convinces me; if having a feature interferes with smooth gameplay, I'm not interested anymore.

Even so, if the coders had a ton of time on their hands (which they don't) I would say, "Just add it as a server-enableable feature with empty folders for people to fill with 'damaged' skins." (God knows there are enough on redsaiyan.net.) Unfortunately, the coders don't have a ton of time on their hands, so this isn't a feature we can blithely ask for in ESF, especially when there's so much else to be done.

Thanks for reading.

Are you serious? ... Think about it, the hair being blown back is just 1 animation, that doesn't cause lag or tons of extra work. Battle damage DOES, however. THAT's why it's just not worth it.

And yes, I DO notice the hair being blown back  it adds a certain 'realism'

And SuperSayajin(Ge, next time use the search function!
