if some one made a dbz modeling tut everyone that wanted to model liket that would follow it like sheep..... start on humanoid modeling tuts then get better and go on to dbz modeling...

gmax can only import decompiled SMDs which make up a MDL file, but no exporting. 3ds can do both with plugins.

I use Truespace5.2. It doesn't export to .mdl so that may be a problem for some people. Although it exports to .3ds,.x,etc., so if you're not planning on using TS5.2 for ESF, then it's a great buy. TS3.2 is free on the net if you want to get a feel for it.

you cannot export to mdl you only can export to smd then compile the ref smd with the animation smd to make a mdl file ;D

just search google for modeling a human body using 3dsmax or milkshape, the same rules will apply to modeling an anime character, the only thing that would change is your reference picture. i suggest modeling poly by poly in 3dsm 5+
