If 3 nuclear power plants were stacked on top of each other, and they exploded simultaneously containing 6 rods a piece, you'd still be ******* fine. Um, yeah. There are quite a few fuel rods in a reactor. Like over 300. But of course, there's no immediate danger now, since absolutely no reactor exploded.

Uhm. Actually there was an explosion in the reactors. The thing is, reactors are pretty well shielded. And in any case, the point that Nix and I are trying to make is that even if all its fuel rods did blow the **** up, we'd be fine. Like summer wine.

They are stacked. If each reactor has 400, for arguments sake, and there were 18 reactors, and all three plants exploded at once, clearly all of the reactors would go, as would their rods.

In this doomsday scenario, you're still fine. Unless you live in Japan, or in a pineapple on the sea, rather than under, you're fine.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills in a world where 3 reactors is worse than 3 nuclear power plants.

How about you stop *****ing and moaning about what may be, and start paying attention to what is actually happening. Why aren't you focusing on all of the people still being murdered in Libya? Or the protests in Iran that can't seem not to end with police and government sympathizers opening up on everyone? Or the civilians in Afghanistan getting liberated by strafing runs night and day? Why aren't you funding schools and hospitals in Africa? Why aren't you protecting the poor throughout the world? Why aren't you attempting to do fix everyone's existing problems? Can you stop a nuclear meltdown? **** no. You can't. Can you do something that makes a difference to someone less fortunate, which is about 95% of the world? Yeah.

You're not talking about what could happen. You're talking about what you think will happen, which isn't what anyone who's actually done a little more than look at pictures believes will happen. Unless Japan is a giant reactor and it explodes, everyone except for Japan is fine. You're focusing on **** that hasn't even happened, and then trying to guilt trip me into caring that the guy who has cancer as a result of fallout is sad. But wait, he doesn't actually exist yet, so I don't care. Japan is a small part of what's happening in the world, and while it sucks that they've been triple, soon to be quadruple whammied, there's nothing anyone can do other than donate to red cross or fly your ass out there to shield Japan with your incredible powers. Do I care that might potentially be sick? No. I don't care. Because there are people who are already ****ed. I don't have to use my imagination to put them in a situation where they're **** outta luck. It's their reality.

Regardless of whether or not it affects the world outside of Japan, this is still a terrible tragedy for those who are going to have to deal after effects. My heart goes out to those suffering across the world for any reason, but right now Japan is holding the focus.

Avenger, while saying no one will care in a month is a bit harsh, I do have a lot to say on that topic. Another thread perhaps because I feel it'd be disrespectful to those affected by the devastation.

Certainly a tragedy, and I'm somewhat glad I didn't go to Japan around this time as I had originally planned a few months ago. Luckily for us Aussie folk, the tsunami didn't reach Australia as had originally been predicted (we had tsunami warnings for a short while). Still, I hope this doesn't stop my weekly manga releases...
