100 FPS Problem , Please help

Imagen that you have a interl 2.4 , 512 rdram, and a r9600pro
and yet you still get 20 fps in ESF when you get 100 fps in Doom3 alpha
W-T-F?
i tried disablling sound acc
i tired disablling openGl's vertical sync

Iam going insane, why wont i get 100 fps?!

And plus i have this weird problem that when i quit the game , my computer's screen turns black and my computer freezes.

well there is some kinda command... i dont rember what but its some thin like max FPS if u go into steam and look it up w/ the upgraded console u might b able 2 find it

dunno excacly... it allows you to run higher fps,
but i'm curioux why does every one want 100fps?

I personaly lock it on 40, nothing wrong with it :S

I had allready did the Fps_max 100
my game do reach 100 fps in other games
But one i start swooping and crap, my FPS drops
the more i play
the closer it gets to 20 fps.

Heres hows it goes:

100 FPS, people shoot beams and charge up and FPS goes down, 50-60 FPS, no choppyness.

40 FPS, people shoot beams and charge up and FPS goes down, 0-10 FPS, everything freezes all the time and horrible gameplay.

Basically its safer to have it higher.

Play on lan and you might be able to get 100fps. I dont' get 100 fps all the time on internet and my machine is p4 2.9, 1gig ddr433, radeon 9700 pro

Just type in console rate 25000, that might help, It helpd in my case so ...

really, like i have no truble at all with dropping FPS, it's weird if i unlock i have un modified 60 FPD and only drops to 58 at lowest

but when i lock it on 40 anway i get no drops @all

Uhh....turn off vsync in your video card settings?

That thing limits you at 60 fps all the time :/

EDIT : Another thing to try is to disable all those fancy schnizz on your Radeon, those hurt gameplay.

I think you put an extra 0 about the doom3 alpha.

It's impossible to get that many fps on doom3 alpha even with the most advanced gear.

yes I believe the 9800 XT only gets around 80. or around that. but still with a 9600 PRO you shouldnt get 20 fps on ESF. no idea how to fix that.

It might get 80 looking at a wall, and with the fastest processor available and 1gb ddr 3700 ram it might get 20-30 shooting at enemies.

That's only because it's unoptimized, in the final release it'll do fine.

How is it that ESF could be such a pro FPS dropper, i mean i can run Black Hawk Down with 100 fps, and forgive me i checked with fraps, i get 60 fps in Doom3 .

cl_fxquality 1
cl_dusttrails 0

play in OpenGL
disable anti-alialising
disable antistrophe filtering
don't overclock your GPU

then stand in front of a wall and tell us your fps

Are you sure nothing "EXTRA" is on?

Did you forget to turn-off Kazaa, Bitorrent, and the IM window?

You sure only the things that need to be running are running before you start the game? Could be adware on the system.

And did you get the latest drivers?

I mean if you threw a generic 4 mb vid card in there you should get more than 20fps cuz of your chip and memory.

You could always find a deal on a mid - high end Nvidia card. I hear a Geforce Ti 400 would guarantee 100 fps in pretty much any HL mod and with you system, would fly in games like planetside. Sure you won't have the pure power of a radeon, but you'll get the speed with less visuals of a geforce! :talk:

I got fraps, i check fps with it
i get 450 fps on every hl mod ... besides ESF :|

You can't get 450fps on HL, it's not possible. HL has a framerate limit of 100 refreshed screens per second.

As for the options, look around in the help section, someone wrote a guide a while back involving Radeon cards, Saiyan Pride XIX if I recall. He listed all the things you need to put in your autoexec.cfg.

Nope, still lying.

I have a 9600XT, with 100 Mhz more on the core and can't pull off 60 fps, well maybe if I look at the wall .

Even if I overclock it to 595/695, core/memory respectively, I can't get over 10-25 shooting enemies.

And the Half life engine will not allow more than 100 fps, THE ENGINE.
