I did work in a hospital for a year ^^. I'm also a medical student. You'd be surprised how many people doctors kill unintentionally too. If it's something you really feel strongly about, it's a great career. Just remember it does take a fair while before you specialise in anything.

Medicine's not as glamourous as the media make it out to be :P. Most of it's looking through notes, examining patients and prescribing stuff. Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians do far more of the "saving lives" thing.
